Man are boat prices going up

yeah, I paid $10k for my 1999 210BR last July, along with a trailer and felt I got a pretty good deal for what other boats were going for, and it matched up pretty closely to NADA prices. I checked NADA prices on it a couple of weeks ago and it is $14K this summer...crazy but in line with Biden inflation I guess plus people are wanting to do something during covid.

This is how stupid it is with boat prices in Canada. https://www.kijiji.ca/v-powerboat-m...ion/searay-sundancer-340/1581472947?undefined
In case the ad is gone by the time you read this. CAD$245K for a 2005 340DA. Low hours (400) but OMG, this is crazy. The boat still has a MD home port on the transom so not owned for long it seems.

Last week there was a 2001 340 listed for $115K and its gone now, so likely sold, maybe for close to that price.

My sister and BIL’s quest for a 23 to 25ft bow rider goes on. People (newbs usually) are buying them out from under them with no mechanical or survey. Its still nuts. I told them to wait till next year, but they continue to look with hope.

Wow, it’s affecting Canada too. I missed when Biden became president of Canada and caused inflation there too. Bidens inflation. Listen to yourselves. You guys are funny.

:eek:This is Biden’s economy.
Oil industry and Gas prices. Food prices. Labor shortages. COVID spikes. Afghanistan debacle.

Just for starters. Of course he’s unaware of any of this.

Got to agree. No doubt. Let’s toast.

Until it ends we are the barometer for the world. If Biden‘s policies create inflation in the US then it will create inflation worldwide. That is until the Chinese take over the world economy. Then God help us...

Its not entirely US driven. Boat prices in Canada have nothing to do with US politics. neither is home price inflation and wage inflation. In Toronto the job market for professionals is insane. I banks are hiring, accounting firms are hiring, law firms are hiring, and the banks are hiring. As much as the younger college grads are feeling overwhelmed by the costs, their time is coming.

COVID slowed spending on travel and leisure, and the stock markets have skyrocketed. So discretionary wealth has never been higher for so many. The music in the musical chairs will end though. Always does.

All true. Trump oil policies led to the lowest gas prices in years while Biden policies have skyrocketed gas prices.

The price of oil is world wide...

I've got this Gambler 206SS that I just don't use enough anymore. If the market is this over the top I'm going to list it. Let's see what happens.

Finally, ran the boat over to the ramp and got it on the trailer, it goes to the detailer next Monday then we'll see what the market will bear. There are no "comp's" as Gambler only made 12 of these so I have no earthly idea what it is worth....

I'll miss it but just never use it anymore. A little clip at 90 plus - message - don't sell to friends....

Damn, that scary!

That’s fast. You need skill and nerves of steel to fly that thing. But what was fast enough to keep up and have someone on board filming you?

Knowing the boat and conditions is really what's important. Trimming and jacking the engine is super critical. Too much jack and the prop starts to walk the boat sidewise and chine walk gets out of hand like seen at the start; that is really spooky and can pitch you out of the boat if it gets really bad. Too much trim and air gets under the boat's pad then starts lifting. Too little trim and jack and no speed.... You can see first dropping the engine a bit deeper and settling the chine walk then the trim setting the bow down and the boat straightening out then peddle to metal. This boat has a hot foot and trim/jack controls on the steering wheel; musts for safety....
The boat next to me trying to get video, believe it or not, is a Yellowfin 24 with a 450 on it; he was in the 80's as I was going around.

Try the KIR (Keys Island Runners) Facebook page and the Scream and Fly Forums to sell that

So this is wild. Saw a boat I looked at last year (passed because of smokers smell) listed on Boatsetter which is like air bnb for boats. Looks like this kid bought it, and a few others, and now rents them out. I wonder how much that is affecting the supply.

A ton of boatsetter boats down here in south florida - im signed up as a captain with them and just got two requests to do sandbar charters on a tri toon tomorrow - no thanks on a holiday weekend, besides its my sons 21st bday!

I’m watching. I was looking again because of 2-foot-itis but I don’t want to put any more money into a floating asset at this point. I’ll continue to improve mine and keep it until prices return to a more normal. I was looking at a “more permanent” boat for us last week. End of summer here in Northern IL, I was thinking of an offer about 10% off asking price because it is priced a little high, it’s been on the market 2 months now, and he knew it, but while in talks with him, he raised the price 5% because he felt he could get that. Told him when he’s interested in selling again to let me know.
