Good morning,

We took a week long trip, all was terrific. Day 5 the forward berth AC stopped blowing cold air. The unit continues to blow air, the water flow out of the boat is strong but I don't get any cold air. I read a thread on it could be the capacitor has gone bad. I purchased a new capacitor and it still doesn't work.

The compressor tries to turn on and just hums - it then stops and about a minute later it tries to start and still the same hum.

I checked the strainer and cleaned to be sure. It was fine. Out of ideas on what to try next? Anyone?

Any ideas on what else to try?

Thanks,

Steve

Can you feel if the compressor is warm to the touch, sounds like the compressor is in overload in witch case you have to let it cool down before trying to restart it.

If you have a rubber hammer when it starts humming hit the compressor with the rubber hammer. See if it frees up.

The owners of CSR really need to start a separate forum for AC only and place several threads with sticky’s.

This topic has been discussed over and over multiple times.

A few minutes using the search function will result in lots of good reading on the subject.
