Our first vacation

Definitely a first seeing a gold dog giving watch on the bow.

That’s gonna be quite the bridge

So we made it out of the Ford YC and into the Detroit river….beautiful day…. No freighters and no boats really…for a Saturday seemed a bit strange.

The new bridge going across the river is started….both American and Canadian side has started. Don’t see that everyday

Then came across Scout….this became an internet trending thing since it stopped at Put in Bay for a couple days as it continued on through the Great Lakes… Basically it’s about a dead dog….a statue of the dog is on the bow in gold if you blowup the pic…boat is named after the dog…must have been quite the dog.

Then we made it in to MacRay….great spot and met a bunch of old friends and some new ones

We saw Scout in Nantucket last summer. It is an impressive boat. Looks like you are having a great vacation. Enjoy.

Craig it was sure nice having you and Brenda aboard Saturday night at MacRay. I can't believe I didn't think about some pictures so I could have added some photos to your trip album. If you see this in time and need anything before you pull out of MacRay give me a call. I might have it on the boat. If you want to use the golf cart to cruise and check out the whole marina feel free to do so. The keys are on the drivers side roof, back corner. Hope to meet up again someday. We'll definitely give you a head-up on our next trip to PIB. Safe Travel for the rest of your trip.

Joe you are too kind. It was definitely good meeting you and @Brent Nutting and your wives that was a lot of fun... you still have to punch @Great Lakes in the arm for the no show.... we definitely need to get together again... you guys were great.... thanks for everything

So nice following these threads instead of the 'something's broken' ones. Makes me miss my boat. Thanks for taking the time.

Now for a stupid question that's I've hesitated asking for some time. Where and what the hell is 'PIB'???

Put in bay, awesome little island in ohio

Put in Bay is a semi protected harbor on South Bass Island in the west basin of Lake Erie

So quick update .... we got to North Channel Yacht club today. This is the best kept secret on the planet. Beautiful grounds, incredible clear water and the best people anywhere .... we have a prime spot over looking the channel and the boats going by..... the sunsets are incredible

What a trip! Looks great.
Craig,
NCYC is a great place. If you take your dinghy out past Deckers, into the reeds (heading north), you will cross Munchie Bay. On the other side (short ride across Munchie Bay), you will see The Raft. Great place for a beer and burger. The marina next to The Raft is Bouvier Bridge Marina (our home port).
Enjoy the rest of your time, sorry, I won't be back out there until Friday evening, so you will most likely be gone by then.

That’s a coincidence we just finished talking to our boat neighbor who recommended the raft….I just came back from talking to our friends and they want to take the dinghys and stand in the water and day drink…. I am having a sandwich on the boat :)
We just came back from browns this morning they are closed Tuesday and Wednesday…. That’s not right

Very nice!!! that's my normal dock spot. We have spent the past couple weekends there. we are actually in the middle of joining as we speak. We were there sunday before some weather rolled in so we headed home (15 minutes across the lake). Noticed there was a rendezvous coming in from ohio, looked to be about 30 boats I heard. But you are literally in the slip that i left sunday, happy we could keep it warm for you... I was right next to that 48 "Z unit" that i see to your port side. Anyway, looks like your having a blast! if you make a short trip across munchies you can always stop at Island Grill, they have great food and drinks and will be open today!

Blueone, if you want to stand in the water and day drink (I am jealous by the way), head over to Munchie Bay. When you pull out of NCYC, head towards Deckers and turn right into the canal just east of Deckers. You will go under a bridge and then just keep heading straight and you will get to Munchies. Not sure if there will be any boats there, but you will see the new Cabana Blue bar that is being built.
As Richie Rich said, Island Grill is a good place to grab a bite to eat and drink if you don't go to The Raft.
