Super easy question, I see no issue running the engine without the flame arrestors, I need to take them home tonight, they are awful. My mechanic is having surgery, and I am at a restaurant tonight, but will be back at the boat in 3 hours. Once I get back to the marina, I want to remove the flame arrestors, and will clean them this week, the only use the engines will see is at idle getting flushed by the marina.

At least the view is pretty…

Any time the engines are running, you stand the chance of a backfire, especially during startup. You would probably be okay if you ran them with the engine access panels open, but, keep in mind that fuel vapors are heavier than the surrounding air, and will lay down in the bilge, open panels or not.
And, nice view!

no need to take them home to clean, Some simple green ,purple power, any spray cleaner, hose off and shake dry

^^^^this. Then start the engines and let the airflow dry them, only takes a few minutes.
