So we are thinking of a day trip during the week (maybe a Wednesday) and ferrying over for the day. What kind of things are there to do and approximate costs? Not really concerned with costs but trying to plan. Will be renting a golf cart while there too. Just me and my wife and we aren't drinkers but may try some wine occasionally.

Thanks!

Take jet express from downtown port Clinton more expensive then Miller ferry but faster… and has longer hours of operation …Miller you catch at top of Catawba. Jet drops you off downtown PIB, Miller drops you off a couple miles north of DT…lots of good golf cart rentals in both places

Golf cart is a must….don’t rent from Delaware cart rentals any other place is good

The two caves are okay….across the street from one another we toured both no reason to do it again….a Wednesday is perfect time to tour…heineman has a wine tour too. Also across the street at the putt putt place (can’t think of the name) has a cave and a barn with antique cars a definite walk through and it’s free.

the monument is open …you need a mask a definite must do to see the view

to eat every single place is good…some of our favorites
Reel bar
Hooligans
The Goat
Mr Ed’s back patio
I really could name them all

a glass of wine at the Dollar house beside Crews nest….nice view from patio

not much in form of entertainment on a Wednesday ….check in at the round house or the boathouse those would be your best chance

there is a chance we might be there the week of 8/9… let me know if you are there as well

Since you are coming from Pittsburg, you might consider catching the Jet Express in Sandusky. I believe it stops at Cedar Point and Kelley’s Island in route to Put in Bay. Check the Jet Express website for schedule and rates. Enjoy!

Thanks. Probably be making the trip either 7/28 or 8/5. Have to figure out a dog-sitter...lol

We’ve always enjoyed Frosty’s Pizza and The Keys.

Tons little shops all around downtown.

We will be staying in Huron 8/7-21. Will definitely be out to PIN at least once or twice depending on weather and boat.

Go to this site for package deal with Miller Ferry. /millerferry.com/package/put-in-bay-family-fun-pack The Jet Express is 35 per person round trip.

Leaving tomorrow morning. Already reserved and paid for the ferry and cart rental. Will get there around noon and leave about 5 or 6 or so. If anyone here is there tomorrow let me know.

Leaving tomorrow morning.

So you'll be there today(Wednesday, July 28th)?

I won't be there until 11ish Thursday morning.

Have a good time.

Just got back. Loved it. Got alot of pics but it's late so will try to get some up tomorrow. Got a cart from E's cart rental right at the top of the hill off the ferry. Went up the monument and got some pics from way up there. Ate at the boardwalk, walked around a bunch, drove all over the island then came home.

Oh...saw a bunch of Sea Rays but the one that was close enough to pay attention to was about a 280 named Sea Walker. Anyone here? They were near the fuel dock when we were eating and they took off out into the open sea...errr...lake

All the restaurants I gave you ….and you ate at boardwalk?….geez

Ahh the Boardwalk.
Get the fish or lobster bisque?

lol. Well the plan was to eat a light lunch cause we hadn't eaten all day then eat a bigger dinner cause we are both working on our diets. She ate the lobster bisque and I got the cajun chicken sandwich. But at the time we were ready to leave neither of us were hungry...lol. The food wasn't bad. My chicken was actually pretty good. I hate sea food so didn't have much to choose from

Next question...about how much anchor line do you guys typically need out around the big lake? Currently I have 200' with about 8' of chain but plan to install a windlass and the chain I have is the wrong size. Don't trust myself to get a good enough splice to not have issues with the windlass so was planning to buy the rope with the chain already spliced on. I know about the 7:1 scope etc but not sure I can fit 350' of line in my locker. On the Ohio I typically anchor in about 20-25' and usually pay out about 60' and have no issues. Figuring 250' with about 15' of chain will be pushing my limits. I was told the chain should be at least as long as the boat but haven't found anywhere that offers 25' pre-sliced

Do you plan to anchor offshore for fishing or more for beaching?

I don’t think we’ve ever anchored in more than 12’ of water. I do have a 150’ spool of anchor rope onboard if needed.

Our avg depth when we anchor to hang out is probably in 5’ of water.

If we ever take the boat to PIB we would probably anchor in an area we see others anchored and just sit and hang out. Not sure how deep it is in those parts (or even where a common anchor spot is near PIB)

Not much like what you’re thinking at PIB.

Kelly’s Island State Park has a semi protected bay. It is located on the north side of the island.

South of Kelly’s Island starting near Bay Point and running into the bay towards Sandusky on the west side is a spit of land that tons of boat will anchor at.

Cedar Point beach is huge but offers no protection.

There’s a cover behind the Huron River Light that many boats will anchor in.
