Great Products That Work

These are great. For $10 you can swap out the cigarette lighter plug. They fit the original hole and even have the same size terminals so it's a direct swap to the factory wiring.

I had some spots from where the cockpit fridge frame was rusty. Tried a few different things that didn't work, but this you just spray on, wait a couple minutes, and it's gone!

Star brite Ultimate Fiberglass Stain Remover

West Marine Instant Hull Cleaner. It took the stain off my hull without the heavy chemical smell.

Anyone got recommendations for canvas cleaner and sealing? Mine is hurting bad

For stainless steel fridges, apply a bit of WD-40 or similar product on a regular basis, takes just a few seconds, but keeps the surface looking like new.

Thermacell

Used to not be able to enjoy the cockpit due to mosquitoes. Now, we just turn this thing on, and in 15 minutes we have a force field around us and no more mosquitoes!

Love them so much, I sell them in our store now! The portable one is great for being out in the yard, or kayaking up river.

Have an original cover that shrunk and is no longer snapping front and back?....soak cover and wash with Downy fabric softener and put back on wet. Helped me tremendously and made it so my cover snaps all the way around again.

Also, this is going to be controversial and not a recommendation, but it worked well for me. Previous owner learned to dock with the boat. Dings, small crunch holes above the water line. I used Keeney Tub repair kit from Lowes. After dremmeling out each hole to fresh gel coat, I then applied the gel putty with hardener. Amazingly strong and easy to sand. No the color match is not spot on, but if it bothered me I could get color matched gel coat and lightly paint for a perfect finish. It's a gel coat putty.

This product actually does what it says. I almost didn’t buy it because of the “as seen on tv” logo. I applied it to my dash that was faded and the eyebrow over the instrument panel. It literally made it like new. That was 6 years ago and still looks like new

It wasn’t really bad but it was oxidized and dull. In the pic it looks wet like it was armoralled ....in person it just looks shiny... like it was waxed

Thanks I'll give it the college try .....

Not a boat-specific product but I picked up a couple of these for around $10/ea

I had a leak in the mid cabin which is now resolved but if you have any sporadic leaks these will detect 1/32" of water and beep like crazy. They only use 1 9-volt. I put one under the furnace as I have the irrational fear that the hot water tank will let go one day.

That is basically the same price I was getting them for on Amazon years ago. I have 30+ of them installed across 3 rentals, my place, the boats, and our clubhouse.
Saved the pool equipment more than once. That's 5K per episode, for one little screaming box.
I also use LaCrosse units on the boats. I know if I lose power (they complain that they haven't seen the gateway), and I know if the A/C isn't doing its job, and I know if parts of the bilge that shouldn't have water, do. Cheap money for great insight.

Finally used the Boat Cleaner Pro I bought a few months back, based on recommendations in this thread. Wish I had gotten pics of my shore power cord.

Toluene is cheap and cleans shore power cords as good or better than the expensive cord cleaners sold at boat stores. And, unlike acetone, it does not make the cord into a sticky, messy dirt magnet. Use in a ventilated area.

Make sure you wear gloves and mask. Toluene is a cancer causing chemical.

A friend text me, he uses MEK to do the same as the boat cleaner pro. I picked some up last night and will use it next time as well.

Yep, that is what Boat Cleaner Pro is based on.

I use these products https://rejex.com/
Their corrosionX works wonders in the engine room. Their wax products are impressive as a base wax. The cleaner spray and detailer actually remove diesel soot easily. I also use 303 in the cockpit and around the outside as a protectant.
