48 DA Owners Club

Not sure why it posted that way including your original question about knowing that boat. No, I don’t know that boat, but I do know mine and you’re welcome to come see an immaculate 06’.

I'm also on long Island. Welcome to tour the boat as well....
2010 ....
Shaps, you’re in the Anchorage if I recall, I’m in Bellmore - so both boats are 15-20 mins apart. But I’m 15-20 mins closer to Philly, lol! Seriously though, come by anytime, we’re just over two hours to Philly with little traffic.

You win....
You're 20 mins closer.... nevermind:)

Hi Jeffrey,
That would be awesome.... thank you so much! When you know for sure after your sea trial let me know and I can send you my UPS shipping # for you to ship with.

Regards,
JB
JB, I just closed on the sale of my 48 and wanted to make good on my offer. I have both high-pressure lines and the mounts I can send you if you still need them. If you need/want them, you can email me shipping info to jeffrey.vargas@salesforce.com

Hi everyone, hope everyone is having a great summer and enjoying their boats.....Me, not so much. I closed on the sale of Blacksheep yesterday. The final sale number on Blacksheep was $443...I bought it about 3 years ago at $400K. It was a 2008 and had about 750 hours and was in excellent condition. The surveyor had to call out 2 broken/loose hose clamps..I called bullshit on it but whatever. Just thought you'd all like to know where your investments are at the moment. I'm still in search of my next boat in the 55 to 60+ foot range. If anyone knows of something that is worth looking at please let me know. Shaft driven preferred....Thanks to you for the input support and help over the years, it's been great!

Congratulations Jeffrey!
Best of luck in your pursuit! Don't be a stranger!

Congratulations Jeffrey! Going to miss your 48 posts but I am sure we will hear from you soon with a new toy.

Hey Jeffrey, thanks for reaching back to me. I am definitely interested and will send you my shipping info tomorrow.
Congratulations on the sale of your 48 I’m sure it’s bitter sweet. But now you are free to pursue your next with cash in hand. Good luck with your search.

The search has been going on for months JB. It's slim pickings out there. Maybe I wait a year or two when the market is saturated! lol...Send me your info and I'll get those out to you.

OC, I'm still jealous of that watermaker set up! I'll be back with something and hopefully sooner than later.

Our next boat will be a 48 Sundancer! We have a deposit down and are traveling to Ft Lauderdale (from Michigan) to for sea trial and survey next week! We would prefer freshwater (this has been in salt for 4 years), also would prefer closer to home (1300-1600 mile transport) but they are few and far between! Does anyone have recommendations on a reliable / affordable shipper?

Also open to any first time 48 advice. We are moving up from a 2003 340
Sundancer.

Thanks friends

Freshwater 48 will be extremely rare. Make sure the aftercooler and heat exchanger services have been done. That's top of mind. I miss my 48 already.

Which one are you looking at? Who is doing your engine and mechanical surveys? Be carefull with SoFlo boats, lots of beat up charter crap that has lots of lipstick on it. Make sure you are doing good due dilligence and have good surveyors that will look out for you. Good ones are booked up weeks in advance, don't fall for Marine Max jokers to "look at it for you".

Thank you all for the welcome. There will be millions of questions forthcoming, but the most pressing from the Admiral is where to store the sink cover? I've looked in what I would guess to be the usual places but haven't found anything. Can any of you veteran 48 owners shed any light. 2006 model.

Thanks,

Jaybeaux
Here is where we keep ours next to the trash can, I added a shelf to lift the can as the admiral was getting pissed when the can over flowed and shit got everywhere. So I cut a plywwod shelf and raised the can so she gained storage and no more trash can issues

This is a fantastic idea, I am going to fabricate something similar! Why didn’t SR think of this?!?!

****catastrophe overted****

All - Check your mirror behind the master stateroom sliding door. Wifey was cleaning and found a mount lying on the floor. I inspected the rest and one is missing, all others loose and mirror weight had just about pryed the bottom mounts off the door. WOW that would have been a huge disaster if that fell and broke into a million pieces. I get that they didn't glue it but they should have at least used some double sided tape and a few more mounts to hold it since the screws only have 1/4" to bite and this being the bow takes a beating. I am just happy she caught it, one more good wave and I would have had a disaster.

The boat name is Tan Lines. We are working with Bobby Giancola from Denison Yacht Sales. Survey is being done by Leiloni from Coast to Coast Marine Surveyors & diesel mechanical inspection & oil samples by a guy named Mike (can’t find his last name). We are going in eyes wide open for sure. I will inquire about charter use - that is a good call.

We began our next boat search about three years ago with Nordhavn and now looking at Vicem. The Vicem are very impressive in their overall build quality; built in Turkey. We spent quite a lot of time on a pre-owned 97' and visited her a couple of times with intent to move on it but insurance stood in the way.
Take a look at these Vicem Cruiser 67's, I think you will be impressed http://vicemyachts.com/cruiser/vicem-cruiser-67/. They are not a "production" boat so pre-owned will will have features the original owners had done during the build. Are there any pre-owned on the market at any price reasonability? I would doubt it right now.
