The generator turns over but it will not start. Sounds like a fuel supply or perhaps spark plug problem.

We used our generator in salt water when we drove it from Daytona to Anclote last month. It has 60 hours on it. The first time we used it, it started right up and ran steady but I noticed that after 6 hours, it wasn't running at a steady RPM. It would rev and then almost shut off...there was no change to the load below decks...even with everything off, it did not run at a constant RPM. I made sure to flush it while it was running when we got it on shore.
- 2 weeks ago, it was hard to start when I flushed it when we returned after a weekend. It hadn't run but I had the petcock opened while we were out and I wanted to get the salt water out of the line since we were sitting in water with dead fish from the red tide on Caldessi island.
- Friday night we came to the boat and the generator now will not start. Turns over just fine but now will not start.

What do I start with to fix it? Is there an inline fuel filter for the generator that plugged perhaps?

Did you allow your fuel tank to get low? I had a similar problem and fixed it buy bleeding air out of the fuel line after i filled the tank back up. On my boat the generator fuel pick up is at about 1/4 of a tank.

Thanks for the reply. I only let the fuel dip to 1/2 tank b4 filling-up.

I tought there might be an inline fuel filter or perhaps a sensor that regulates the speed of the generator based on load.
