420/44 DB Owners Club

The 42/44 DB must have either been made in extremely limited numbers or its the most sought after boat ever. A quick look only shows a few listed for sale. When I say I few I mean less than 6.
They don't come up too often especially out west.

Anyone have a 42/44 DB within a few hours of the Philadelphia area that I could look at for a few minutes? Wife would really like to see the interior and the bridge.

Case of beer or a bottle of wine on me.

Thanks.

Checked out a 44 SB this evening. Loved the boat. Time to sell my 1996 450DA and let the shopping begin!

Happy hunting! I would say sell the 450 now and wait for a buyer's market to find a 44DB but I know it would be hard to wait and I really don't think the 44 DBs will suffer the depreciation, they are just so sought after by recession proof buyers.

Goal is to have my 450DA listed online this weekend. Need to make sure every picture is perfect and write out a detailed description of the boat's history being with the prior owners since 05, fresh water for it's entire life and kept in a covered slip up until my purchase in April. They took amazing care of the boat and I did my best to bring it up to date. All without ever even thinking of selling the boat. Now with about 50hrs of run time, several over nights and a weekend away with kids and friends in a different marina makes us look at things slightly differently.

The DB we saw today was stunning, but not 399k stunning!!

Well you are all in on your commitment to boating to do such a quick turn like this but we all know that tomorrow is not promised to anyone so who's to judge? I am in a way in a similar "boat". We sold the 44DB in November and spent several months watching the market for the right 530 or 570 Carver Voyager but nothing interesting to us presented so we compromised and bought a local 506. We really enjoy it but I pine for a 570 still. There is one in the marina owned by an 80 year old gentleman and I spoke with him this weekend and asked to have first right of refusal on the boat when he is done with it before he calls his broker. Luckily he does not want to sell now because we are not ready to move just yet either. I am hoping we can come together a couple of years from now.

Planning my next project for winter layup. I plan to remove the carpet and refinish the stairs in the salon as well as the surrounding carpeted walls. Has anyone else done this? What did you use for flooring that closely match the existing floors?

I did my 44DB salon but did not get to the steps before I sold it. Found a very close match the Santos Mahogany in an engineered product. I made two subfloor panels that I applied the floor panels to that are pulled for engine room hatch access. I was not in the mood to custom lay the floor and border around the hatches.

This is a pic before I custom milled solid mahogany trim borders. Due to the age of the boat the new floor is darker than the galley and dinette area but when I lift the stairs the area the match is perfect to the non sun bleached wood.

Yes, that looks like a very close match. I know what you mean when you lift the stairs. Looks as if Home Depot carries it.

Nice touch with all the upgrades.
Has anyone replaced vanity tops in the heads ?
I am thinking of setting the medicine cabinets back a few inches. Fabricate new counters with different sinks so you can get your head over the sink. I get more water on the floor than in the sink when I wash up.

Nice idea-the struggle is real! I’ve adapted my routine to shave in the shower and brush my teeth in the galley so I can spit in that sink… that’s a design detail that few buyers would pick up on a walk-through. Interested to see what you come up with.

I could see installing a surface mounted bowl style sink with an extended faucet. It may be far easier than cabinet and counter top replacement. I wish I thought of it while I still owned mine:rolleyes:

Most popular boat ever!!!!!!!! I have people lining up at least once a month. Asking if you sell please call me. Kinda crazy. Sorry she's a keeper, hence only a few on the market. Good Luck!
PS if you have a chance at a 42/44, lay down the deposit at that moment, with survey contingency. That's just how it works right now.

Unfortunately I'm bound my budget and 399k is not in my range! Total bummer. Loved the boat.

Have you ruled out a 400 SD? A bit more affordable and some how the lay out affords more storage. We were looking at them before we ran in to the deal we did on our 44DB. We really did not think we liked the dinning table on the 400 and preferred the open seating on the 44 but it really is an ineffective dinning area for more than two people. Just a thought as a very similar option.

Heart is set on the 03-09 style. Gotta sell my 450DA first and then we will see what is out there.

If you can find one in this market, i would think a 42/44 in the 04-07 year wouldn't break 300k for listing price. If it does i'm putting mine up for sale...

If I can remember from my searches they are in the 319-399 asking price range.
