Nice idea. I bought some inexpensive motion lights from amazon and put them in my cabinets and the main panel in my salon so you can see the stuff in there. The panel light are great to check on things without having to turn on the overheads. I plan on adding a more weatherproof set in my transom locker and under sink storage too.

Mark, it's funny how we all seem to find the same solutions. Mine look just like that. My only gripe is that the magnet isn't stronger. I have one mounted under the top edge of the AC/DC panel shining down. Works great, but it does drop down, I guess from a big wake? I'm going to mount with some velcro strips and see if that's any better. All the others work great. Beats getting a flashlight out to look in our deep cabinets.
 
For bottom paint - especially for doing a touch-up, I use disposable paint pads. Much less messy, and you toss 'em when they get chewed up and move to the next. Full-bottom jobs and large areas are still better with a roller, but even then, the pads are superb for cutting in around the strakes etc.

Here’s another one: use a 6” high density foam roller that you can buy in the paint Department at Home Depot. The lower the nap the better. I look for 1/4”.
Very little waste or splatter and I can do the smooth bottom of my 410 with a bit less than a gallon of paint.
 
me too... I replaced mine 3x and once it burned up the motor too ($400).
Take my picture to Home Depot with you. All 1/2" stuff. Plastic ball valves, elbows, pipe to hose couplers. I had most of it laying around in my plumbing bin. If you own 20+ boats over 50 years, you tend to collect "spares".
What I will not do again is introduce any garden hose fittings that are "brass". BS, this stuff corrodes in a heartbeat in Sunny Florida.
 
I use these after docking for clean up time. All my lights are blue and these help to see better. I hang them from the zippers. Solar power or usb recharge and last for ever. Also great to hold when walking the dock at night

Use bipolar ionization on your A/C system intake. This applies to both boat and home (they make larger units for home A/C). They kill odor and pathogens (including Covid, influenza, Leigionnaires disease, etc.). I sell these systems commercially to schools, hospitals, manufacturing plants, businesses, offices & such. I installed one on my home, parent's homes & friends. And they do work. My wife has had a noticeable decline in allergies since I put this on the house. Also kills mold. This technology has been around for decades and early on they started using them on submarine ventilation systems. Last year they put them on air force one & the white house. They haven't seen huge popularity until recently when multiple independent tests showed a 99.4% Covid kill rate. Now they're selling like hot cakes. These units typically sell for hundreds of dollars each for these smaller units but this is the same unit straight from China without the pretty packaging...

I think I have posted this before. If you have a Sea Ray with those completely useless "cup holders" on the port side dash, you can either raise the plexiglass base on stands like some have done, or alternatively mount a stainless cup holder in the center (you have to cut out the plastic between the holes in the holder. This one is from Edson. I like it because it holds mugs with handles too. It also makes a good place to hang a bag like a camera bag or purse that is off the deck but secure.

Do you hook this up so it is always on, or cycles with power to the A/C control box?
I assume it can go in the intake "cabinet", or would it go right up on the core?

it can stay on continuously. Doesn’t hurt, power draw is tiny and it just keeps pumping the beneficial ions. If you have a filter, you want to install it AFTER the filter so the filter doesn’t catch the ions and defeat the purpose. Usually these are installed right on the inlet of the fan itself. Preferably, you want it so that the ions blow thru the A/C coil to kill any mold growing there. Ions mix in the air and stay active around 90 seconds so they have a chance to treat all the surfaces inside the boat. Basically anywhere the air blowing from the a/c will come in contact with.

Ok, little confused. Let's take my salon unit. Mounted in a cabinet behind drawers. The air intake is in the bottom of the drawer cabinet, pulling air up to the self contained Marin Aire unit. The filter is mounted on the face of the evaporator core, and the heat exchanger coil is on the other side. You are suggesting that the ionizer is mounted after the core and before the coil, or after the coil, or between the filter and the core? (that will be tough). And, if I just mount it in the cabinet, it will not be effective because the filter will be trapping to many of the ions (makes sense)?

IDEALLY, you want it before the coil so the ions go thru the coil and can kill any mold that is present. Wherever you put it, you just don’t want it so the ions are being drawn into the filter or the ion generator becomes useless. If there is inadequate space, you’ll still benefit from the ions going into the boat cabin and mixing. You just want to locate it where there is a good amount of air velocity across the unit. Which is why it’s generally mounted on the intake of the fan, assuming the layout is where the fan blows thru the coil so the ions have a chance to spread evenly across the coil as the air blows thru. Obviously if you mount the generator right up against the coil because you have no other room, the air will just pull the ions thru the coil right above the generator and only treat a small section of the coil. On those tiny units, you basically fit it where you can. There’s the ideal location, then there’s the real world…..

with very limited space, you can also use these units where the power box is remote mounted and you just insert the 2 brushes in the airstream somewhere. You’ll have to do some searching but you can find them on eBay & Amazon in different voltages.

Zip ties each 25 ' work for me, and alleviates concerns for us who are color blind. Just count the ties as they pass. Make a longer white one for each 100' if you like.
 
This one may be a little boat specific. My swim ladder slides into a recess and has a hinged cover. If you open the cover, you'll see there is room to install a Magma pedestal mount for your BBQ. Now when you put away your BBQ and close the ladder hatch, your swim platform is left smooth as a baby's bottom, which rumor has it, is very smooth. You could also use this to mount a fishing chair, a bait table...whatever
