410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

Hmmm...I see you timed the weather, and impromptu stop-on blowoff day? Hmmmm? :)

hahah we ate at jacks during it and watched. People are resilient, the weather was horrible yet they were still walking through cattails and floating their coolers to the sandbar

I was there two years ago. The weather was perfect and the bay was PACKED. It was an interesting time...

For all following my little weather saga - I didn’t want to put my son through that again because it was the same forecast as the way so we got my wife and son a ride home and I ran the boat myself about 35 miles. I learned a few things -

1) cruising alone in nice weather is fun, and I appreciate a really loud stereo when I’m by myself.

2) electronics are wonderful, especially radar and AP when you can’t see 50 yards in front of you. I hit a squall and pulled back to 10 mph. Would have needed to rely on the compass (I did check it during this period) if I didn’t have working electronics. The wind kicked up so badly that for a moment I put it in neutral and ended up facing the way I came from

3) remember to snap the front isinglass. The dash was SOAKED.

4) I need new windshield wipers

5) if there was any doubt left or lack of confidence in our boat, it’s gone now. This thing can take some SHIT

I've put all three of my kids through the ringer a couple times. Only my daughter has ever succumbed to the sea sickness. I figure you need to get them their sea legs at some point! :)

Looks like a peaceful ride there, sans the dampness. Another summer adventure!

Hadn't posted here I don't think but installed two new turbos, cleaned aftercoolers and changed Racors, fixed my RPM dropping off, both engines now have plenty of power now. Still only make 2650 rpm, could be tach, bottom fouling or need to do prop work. Going to change the rest of the fuel filters and install boost, egt and fuel pressure gauges. Thanks everyone for the tips and suggestions.

ok next prob. Salon a/c is tripping the breaker. Plenty of water being discharged, comprsssor comes on for about 10 seconds and breaker trips. I have read maybe low on Freon or weak breaker. Any tricks to getting these breakers out? Was going to swap it with another to see if that's the issue. Thanks.

Josh...Not a HVAC guy, but that smells like a startup capacitor issue....could be failing to provide necessary amperage and thus is overtaxing the supply circuit......

Yes, that could be it as well. At least the FWD a/c keeps the whole cabin at 72. . Have searched the issue and most issues that popped up were lack of seawater flow, weak breaker, and low Freon. If all those check out then I can get into the weeds on the electrical system.

Have a similar problem with my salon a/c. Reads LoP, but still produces some cooler air. Assuming low Freon.

Now that I have healthy engines and put a few miles on I want to see how I compare to you other diesel guys. What do you all see for speed at various RPM? In a mild sea I ran the following, half water and full fuel. This was also cruise mode, so lots of food and clothes and stuff. I had the props cut to make 2850 over the winter not knowing I needed new turbos

2150: 20mph
2250: 21.7 mph
2288:23.1mph

I feel like it might be a hair slow, it’s going to be calm tomorrow so I’m going to run again and see what those speeds are

Yeah mine starts to blow cold, but only runs for 20-30 seconds or so. Have other projects going on at the moment so I will get to it eventually. :)

Normally low Freon, low water pressure or a blocked/dirty airway does not blow a breaker. Normally the AC will shut itself down and display a low pressure message on the AC panel.

I am running around 23-25 MPH at 2400, want to say i was around 20-22 at 2200. Really depends on wind and current for me. 3/4 full of fuel, water tank full, and fully loaded, 4 adults, 3 kids, 2 dogs, fairly dirty bottom. So it looks like you are pretty close.

Seems pretty spot on to me

Thanks guys, I thought it was close. My wife and I were talking about how the boat is so solid at cruise it feels like we’re barely moving.

Yeah thats what i figured, just the things that came up when i searched the symptoms.

This is right in line with me, I think your right about where you want to be.

Thats pretty much what I get. At WOT (2850) I get approx 24kts (27-28 mph).
