I'll be boating near Yorktown, VA and the lower Chesapeake mainly. I thought a little AAA for the water would be a good idea. Any reason not to sign up with BoatUS?
$194 for:
-100% payment for offshore, restricted dock and from home dock or mooring to a repair facility.
- Unlimited Trailer Assist - Trailer/Vehicle Towing up to 100 miles, Flat Tire Service, Jumpstarts, Fuel Delivery, Lockout & Trailering News.

I'm picking Atlantic and tributaries over Chesapeake and tributaries even though I'll be around the Chesapeake more.

I have had them and been very happy with them - especially the time I need to use their services. Like all services if you happen to need a tow and its a holiday weekend you may have to wait a little while based on you location and where they are. We have a few BoatUS boats in our area.

Also word has it (I have not seen it personally but was sent pictures) that if you are a Costco member they have a discounted membership for $89.99 (normally the 114.99 plan) available through 5/30/21. It is on one of the cardboard card they hang with offers like the prepaid/gift cards.

I would only add that you should go with whomever has more services in your area. We did Boatus for a few years but where we boat we would see 2-3 Seatow boats for everyone 1 Boatus. Decided to switch to Seatow. Haven't needed them but we see them on almost every outing.

Hello from Richmond, VA, visit Yorktown often.

I was always happy with my BoatUS membership and recommend it. While pricing insurance for the next boat recently I did ask if they cover what BoatUS covers. They said yes, but I would still probably get it for the discounts and reassurance.

BoatUS has a facility in Yorktown, so I think I should be good to go as far as availability. I've never cared for the services provided by insurance. Same thing with AAA.
The Westmarine near me uses Gestapo tactics and are fear mongers for mask mandates so I won't use them for anything again.

Do you get the same discounts with sea tow at marinas?

From what I recall some marinas offer a fuel discount and transient slip discount as well.

Tell them you want winter protection from crack block. Separate rider. $25 per engine. Their out is “it must be winterized per manufacture specs”. Still it’s worth getting.

How you get for $194? I pay $305 just north of you with older boat?
I didn't know it was location specific. I just went to boatus.com, filled out the form and paid. It goes into affect that night at midnight.

I bought my first boat in 1968. At first didn't know enough to have insurance. Then, went from one company to another until about 2000, when I switched to BoatUS. Best thing I ever did, and the economies have been proven.

I now have 4 boats with them and consider myself to be a lifetime member.

Heck, even their magazine is awesome....

We have the BoatUS. There is no tow services(BoatUS) around us and asked them about that. They said if I need a tow and they have no services, they will pay whoever responds. Both in the rivers and out on the Pacific. That alone sold me/us. As for other services, there isn't much in the coastal Oregon areas.

I have had Sea Tow for years and they have saved me thousands of dollars (I had a chaparral that was a real problem). One time they towed me 32 miles - would have been $2200!!!!!!! Wouldn't be without them.
