Repowered to 2 x Mercruiser 4.5 MPI V6 250 ECT with Alpha One GenII Drives
Dear all,

Please note that I am repowering my '93 290 DA from the old twin 4.3 LXH (205hp) with Alpha One GenII to the new 4.5 MPI (250hp) with Alpha one using the same drives and transom assembly (overhauled in the past and in immaculate condition). The propellers however will have to change. Any suggestions? At the moment I have the 19' pitch aluminum props (most likely SOLAS maker from the previous owner). Do you have any experience with SS props? I am tended to increase pitch and stay with aluminum.

Cheers

Try the props you currently have and watch the tach. This way you get good data for new props if you need them.
I switched engines in a 2005 300 Sundancer 305 to 350 cu. and the stock 22p bravo 3 props were perfect.

many thanks Mike. That's my general idea, but taking it a step further I was thinking conducting speed trials (double run directions) and after evaluation lifting the vessel and having ready a set of props to test. For sure the current props need to be tested.
