I want to put a new faucet in the sink. Is this Corian? Will a hole saw do the job?

It’s not Corian. It’s gelcoat over fiberglass. Run the hole saw in reverse initially to put a grove into the gelcoat. Then go forward to bore the hole. That will keep the blades from chipping the surface of the gelcoat.

Did you create a cover for the old hole or did your boat not have the full thermostat cutout? I want it to look the same as yours. View attachment 104679
I did not have the full cut out. It was just a small hole. I had to cut a bigger hole using a festool type tool.

This project has been a nightmare. My phone fell behind the cabinets. Does anyone know how to remove any of this to get to the phone? I tried to take out the lazy susan and that didn’t work. (My work phone is the one that I’m using for the light right now. You can see it in the photo.)

The faucet hole seems to also be a pain drill. I tried going slow to let it catch and it just slides around. Can one of you provide some advice!? I really thought this was going to be a simple project. Thanks in advance!

This may be a Hail Mary but I would remove the back cushion on the starboard salon couch and see if you can view down behind the cabinet. Or view down from the coffee maker. Good luck!

Great minds think alike. That was my first thought as well and I had no idea this even came out like that, but it didn’t help my issue.

If you have a hole saw that is the correct size for the existing hole, cut a hole in a scrap piece of wood then place the cutout “puck” from the scrap onto the pilot bit for the hole saw that you want to enlarge the hole with and that will center the saw over the hole. You might wrap a few wraps of tape around the puck to increase its diameter just a touch for a tighter fit.
Or use the larger hole saw to cut a hole in a piece of plywood then clamp that or have a helper hold it securely over the hole and use it as a template to get started.
Sorry, without being at my boat and looking at the cabinet,, I can’t help with the phone

That puck idea is brilliant. Next time I need to do a drill like this, I will try it out. Fantastic tip. I hope it works in this case!

I get a wood bung to go into the hole and cut it to size for all those type holes.. see:

Glue a piece of wood in the hole and after it dries use the hole saw with a center drill bit in the center of the wood and it won't jump around.

I have to ask even though i know the answer, Survey came back and said signs of moisture in these areas. Saw readings in 12-17 range on his meter. He said he would still purchase if owner was willing to compensate for the issue but my gut is saying to bail. any thoughts my marine is saying anywhere from 20-25K to repair which seems high.

That’s not high, I would say it’s conservative.

Problem is once they start opening it up what else they may find.

If that is the only significant problem with the boat and the owner is willing to knock $20-25k off the price, why not move forward? Assuming you have the cash to get the job one, of course. The area around the hatch is a known problem spot for Sea Rays. The hatch often needs rebedding or moisture gets in. That appears to be what happened here. Check the headliner in the stateroom to make sure there’s no water spots/damage in there, too. Again, if this is the only issue, get the concession (or walk) and get your person to do the work. Do not let him take care of it.

I had a friend buy a 480 and had about $50k work to repair and rebuild the deck. He got the concession on the selling price and now has a fantastic boat. Up to you if you want to deal with the hassle of getting it done.

We are meeting with owner tomorrow to discuss.
Needs cutlass bearings and both props are dinged in same locations survey reports its indicative of props hitting floor while blocking for winter. We are not running away yet.

Trying to remove the forward dinette backrest. Got one screw still to go. Anyone know how to get to it. I’ll probably just cut it with my saws all. It’s really not needed.

So you all asked about using the dingydavit.com extended davits on the boat saying it was to low. I couldn't explain what the custom design I was doing was. so finalized the install today. here are the chalks. Keep in mind I mounted a wench in the back locker to pull it up. I'll send a pick of the full install with the dink on it once I am in the water. L20210517_182435.jpg ooking to be killer. And it can handle so much more weight! (wife doesn't know I want a zodiac with a 40 HEHE)

PS pivots on the bottom for better cantilever to pull up in case the wench dies.
