Hi Everyone. Over the years, all of us experience some form of tragedy in one form or another. As some of you know, I recently experienced the devastating news of being diagnosed with renal cancer. Fortunately, I am on the mend and back to flying.
However, my issues seem trivial now compared to what our closest friends are going through. On March 21, my best friend Steve Pierce took his own life, leaving behind his wife Heidi and their two children, Maddie and Alex. Maddie was adopted as a newborn and Alex has autism.
Due to the nature of Steve’s passing, his life insurance policies are null and void, and now his family is without his income and health insurance.
Today, Heidi was diagnosed with breast cancer. I am without words to describe the tragedy that has befallen the Pierce family. They are (were) such good people, it seems incomprehensible that this has happened to them...but it has, and Heidi needs help.
Obviously the gofundme page is being placed on American’s Union forum as well as mine at UPS. Anyone who knew Steve could testify that he never met a stranger and was a genuinely good person. I miss my friend dearly and am personally horrified by the turn of events.
Thank you in advance for any donations, but even if you can’t donate please consider going on the site to leave Heidi some positive thoughts.

Additionally I want to again thank everyone who reached out or offered thoughts and prayers as I worked through my cancer recovery. You all lifted my spirits when I was in need and I am very grateful.
Thank you.
