Need some positive thoughts - update 3/12

Man is that such great news, very, very happy for you and your family.

I hope this thread, along with the one about PSA, and Mike's (Beachcomber) reminds all of us to be diligent with our bodies (Scott, I'm a year behind you) as we get older. We only have so many heartbeats remaining!! Get back in the air buddy, you've got a long way to go!!

Scott, been watching from the side lines, seems things are going in the right direction!! Now get back up in the air!

Scott, don’t be fooled some of us ( mostly me) love to hear themselves speak (NYers) but there’s a lot of fellas here’s that have been following your health scare and wishing you well they just don’t post it. Just remember that.
Thank you!

This brings back memories of fall 2015 and early 2016. Oral cancer, caught it early. Had to have a come to Jesus meeting with myself in my CC on a trip to Carrabelle in order to talk myself into having it looked at. Went by myself for four days to think, ponder, and pray. I think better on the water, brings me closer to my maker.

Got back, told the wife and got the biopsy, yep I had it, knew it in my heart...surgery scheduled Jan 13, 2016. Almost 14hrs under, but survived and cancer free now.
Recovery was a bitch, still not 100%,but it is what it is. I can do pretty much the same things I used to do. Still don't have feeling from my shoulders to my ears so I have to be carefull, I could cut myself and never notice! About a 30% loss of upper body strength also. And my memory is shot from the long term anesthetics, not as quick as I used to be. Wife notices it.

I'll be 59 this year.

I'm not the "good lookin guy" I used to be, but don't care. Don't need to impress anybody.

I quit a 30yr career in '18 to help my son start a business, was helping on the side prior, we now have three businesses, two are in launch phase now with over .5MM in sales out of the gate. The company we merged one of our companies last year with just went public. So, things are good in that regard.

My perpective has changed dramatically, no longer the hard core, hard pusher I used to be, no more room for that.

I don't get excited anymore about things that don't go right. Don't have time for it, just correct, adjust, and move on. 180 degree turnabout for me.

I still have my wife, we celebrated 37yrs last week. I still have my son, daughter in law and two wonderfull grandkids, my nephews and thier spouses and kids, we had 10 kids over yesterday under 10, one 13yo and a 15yo.

That was the reason to step up to the 440CV last year.

God Bless you in your recovery and all the "survivors" out there as well. Get back on the horse "of life" and enjoy it. I know what they mean when they say you can't take it with you. I worked my ass off for 30yrs, and what for? A good salary? Was it worth it being on the "50 week a year" travel plan for 15 of those years? Probably not, missed alot of family time then.
Doing better all the way 'round now with a new perspective and a diferrent outlook on life.

God Bless

Thanks again for all the thoughts and prayers. I passed my flight physical earlier this week, and will be returning to the flight deck on March 26th. (at least the simulator)

In the meantime, I have managed to lose about 26 lbs with the help of weight watchers and exercise, which has brought my blood glucose levels down drastically. I was pre-diabetic before the weight loss, I am assuming my A1C should be down somewhat from the 6.3 it was before.

Anyway, thanks again for all the words of encouragement, it definitely helps to know you are not alone.
