Need some positive thoughts - update 3/12

The power of prayer works wonders, thanks again for all of yours.

I got to see the Doctor today for my post surgery visit. The pathology report shows Renal Clear Cell Cancer, which is the most common type of kidney cancer. The report also showed the cancer was not the super aggressive type, but a more docile non-aggressive cancer. (Sucks to have cancer, but if you do, I'll settle for non-aggressive)

The tumor was graded at 2 based on the size, but staged at 1A. Based on that, the lack of spread to any lymph nodes, I have a 95% chance that it will not return statistically. I'll have to undergo screening at 6 months, then every year for ten years, but fingers crossed, I dodged a major bullet by catching it early in the process.

Glad to hear you got some good news, Scott.

I can relate to your plight. My wife was diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkins Lymphoma in November. Prognosis is good but also hoping for good news after her first scan results on Feb 1. 1/3 of the way through 12 bi-weekly chemo treatments. It's a marathon for sure. Her Dad is battling at the same time with Stage 4 colon cancer. Interesting times we are living though!

Wishing you the best luck moving forward and sending positive thoughts.

Break out the trumpet!...whoops, meant trumbone.

Great to hear Scott! I’ll echo the sentiment ...here’s to a speedy recovery! Hang in there.

Great news scott, now about the shine on your boat.......

Absolutely fantastic news! And the silver lining is that you will get ongoing screening and both you and your Docs will be ever alert in the future so much less chance of something sneaking up like this one did. Sounds like you should have the most sweet celebration you can. Enjoy.

Scott, I can certainly relate to the feelings you're going through. Count your blessings every day because you've been granted a gift--life.

Don't push your recovery too hard. If you're like me if I have a good day I'll tend to push it, then suffer for a couple of days. My recovery would probably look like a chart of the Dow. A long line showing some days up, some days down. But as long as that line has an upward trend I'm happy. Example-last week I couldn't stand up from a seated position without using my hands to push up. This week I can do it. I'll take that as a HUGE gain!

So be well, my friend. Keep counting those blessings no matter how insignificant they may seem.

Glad to hear this man!!

Any updates Scott? Hope things are progressing..
Thanks for asking...physically I am doing okay, surgery was 3 ½ weeks ago. Still a little sore at times, but overall not too bad. Emotionally I am still struggling. I go to the doctor tomorrow to discuss the cysts they found on my pancreas, hopefully he can set my mind at ease.

I’m still off from work and doing physical therapy. Hopefully I can get back to flying in late March, early April.

I’ve had a couple spots show up on my thyroid....an old school dr picked them up on one of my medicals, my gp couldn’t find them and sent me for an ultrasound.. the technologist had trouble locating them. She said as technology gets better, they find more. They might have been there for ages.
No change in the size, in the last 2 years btw.
Positive thoughts.

Saw the endocrinologist today, he reassured me that the cysts on my pancreas were nothing to be concerned about for now. On rare occasions they can turn cancerous, but the three cyst I have are very small and don’t display any signs that would have the docs concerned. They will continue to monitor them as I get MRIs for my kidney cancer protocol, but otherwise I don’t need to do anything.

Needless to say, this is a huge weight off my mind. Since my diagnosis, I’ve altered my dietary habits and gotten back into exercise every day. (Lost 17 lbs so far). Now I just need to regain my medical so I can get back in the air....probably in March.

thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers, my family and I deeply appreciate it.
