Is any one else getting a little tired of Covid 19 being used as an excuse for crappy service?
We decided to replace the PSS shaft seals on the boat I've got under contract. I was okay doing the job and I wasn't going to insist on the owner footing the bill so I ordered service kits from PYI on their web store on Saturday expecting them to ship Monday. The owner decided he wanted the yard to do the job and he would pay after all. I had them sent 2 day air to have on Wednesday. I still did not have them by yesterday and the yard is ready to install them. They are out for delivery today, 2 days late! Only explanation I get is its Covid 19 causing delays! They are still happy to keep my 65 bucks for the 2 day service! I ordered a box of anodes for the entire boat from Boatzincs.com sent regular USPS service on Monday and I received them yesterday! WTFO!
It really is a first world problem I know and life will go on.

UPDATE
I called PYI this morning to at least get a partial refund on the freight. They show the order as 2 day so they are working with Fed ex to get charged for ground service and refund me the difference. In the end it won't screw the schedule too much as we will be facing weather issues anyway with getting the boat done and launched. Looks like our rainy season finally showed up. Its all good. People just need to be held to standards though or it will all eventually collapse.

PYI is in Tacoma WA, I'm in Nor Cal and BoatZincs.com is in MA, Just sayin

Agreed. I have to deal with town offices a lot for work such as building inspectors and fire inspectors. It’s like they’re doing you a favor to come out and do an inspection within a week of when l called in for it. By code they have 24 hours to do the inspection but they’re saying because of Covid that doesn’t apply. I’m not sure how Covid slows them down from coming out to my property to check on work. It is very frustrating.

..and god forbid if it gets shipped through the USPS. What a perfect example of a government run pile of shit "service"
Lately USPS has been better than FedEx for me. I mean they clearly delivered the ten ballots I sent in for Biden/Harris on time:rolleyes:

I'm avoiding USPS whenever I can. It's typically taking 3 to 4 weeks to receive anything when using USPS.

FedEx has been terrible as of late. I ordered a couple of phones as Christmas gifts and they missed the delivery to the store. Claimed the business was closed. When I called to get it rectified they told me to pound sand.

On the other hand, I had some boat parts out for service. It was delayed because the shop work force was decimated by COVID. Not much you can do to replace a skilled workforce on short notice.

With my household having had COVID, I can say with certainty that it sucks. We had to quarantine for a month. Good thing I can work from home.

Local government is the same. I went to pay my real estate taxes and the office was closed due to Covid. It's not like the workers are in crowded offices. One person works behind a glass partition with a small pass through. Nope, have to mail them now with a preprinted, addressed, stamped envelope to get a paid receipt by return mail. Used to take less than a minute to drop off and get the tax bill stamped "paid". Not any more.

I have a rental that the washing machine broke and called the home warrenty company. They sent out a tech who said a new motor was needed and parts were no longer available. Well the warrenty company said they would look for the part and would let us know in 5 to 7 days. Well that had gone by so I called them and was on hold for 4 hours before someone answered and told me it was going to be two more days and they would email me. The reason for the long wait time your guessed it because of covis, what a bunch of crap. Mean while my poor elderly renter has to risk her life to go to laundermat to do laundry, it scares her to death as her daughter is getting over covis and almost died. I told the company that and they could care less.

Yeah, I have had a relative die from COVID, so I understand more than some how serious it is - but the COVID card excuse is getting tired - especially in cases where it is obviously just an excuse. Dealing with the extra "things" necessary due to COVID should just be part of doing business at this point.

USPS can kiss my arse... We received something a couple of days ago that was mailed from Michigan at the beginning of December.
There's hotbeds of USPS uselessness IMO. Raliegh, NC, D.C., Hagerstown, MD, and a few other places that I've been having problems with receiving things from. A case gets opened up and closed almost immediately saying it's on the way, but held up because of the Wuhan. Ya, right... UPS and Fed Ex have been spot on.

As someone who is running a business thru this covid nightmare, I give the other perspective. Suffice it to say, Covid has everything screwed up. First, many people are working from home and I don't care what they say, many are "hardly working." In other words, they work on their own schedule. Response times are slower than normal because they "get to it" after they let the dog out or something.

Those that aren't working from home, it's hit or miss as to who shows up each day. If you have any symptoms, you stay home. Then have to test, then quarantine, etc. etc. So what was once a 2-3 days flu or cold absence is now 2 weeks. It's unplanned so that screws everything up like dominoes. Go forbid you have several in a department go out at the same time. Multiply that by a few time for my supply base and you can see it's a nightmare. Things just aren't running like they used to -- but at least they are running.

A used washer from a local appliance store $100-$150. Just sayin'

I just got a email from the warranty company that they found the parts but is going to be another two or three weeks before they will be shipped, my renter is going to be very upset and I can't blame her. Looks like time to find another warranty company when renewing comes up, and I just renewed it a couple months ago.

Sorry to be an ass, but if you really care about her, go buy a used one today and sell the old one when it's fixed.

It’s just the great reset. Nothing to see here.

you will own nothing and be happy.

In Kentucky covid has increased the value of your vehicles according to the Boyd County Property Value
Administrator. Yep my 2019 Ford F250is worth more this year than last, so more tax. I have told all concerned if thats the case and it doesn't drop I am moving all our vehicles and toys to Ohio. Then they ask how many miles is on the truck. Told them and then the value dropped, wanted me to come down
and sign a affidavit on the milage. I said not happening, going to Ohio like everyone else here in the county. Waiting on the elected official to call me. Needless to say but I am pissed and will not fold to this
bullshit.

In Ca the value of my 2014 Ram 2500 did not increase but the fees did regardless. I paid $950 in tags, $350 is weight fee. If I registered my 55 MGTF for the roar they would charge me $129 for a car that I would obviously drive on an occasional Sunday. It resides instead in my twin brother's hangar with the rest of the classic cars, boats, and airplanes in the extended family museum.

How do you stand it?.... my wife and I agreed the other day which is very rare...that if Indiana turned Dem we would leave

Well Blue one, That is a question that is often pondered but in reality, where would we go? As it has been pointed out many times in various conversations, The Libs that are leaving the regions that they helped destroy are settling in Red regions and slowly but surely influencing policy in those places as well. I'm not ready to pitch in the towel and live off grid in the deep woods. This past weekend in between the largest of the the year's two winter storms that dropped 10 feet of snow in the mountains, we had a near 70 degree sunny weekend with barely a ripple on the water. I guess I'm willing to continue to pay a premium for that. If I don't turn on the news and just do some cathartic chores on the ranch or rub on my boat I wouldn't know the difference. Its all about perspective I guess.
