Has anyone ever installed and used any of the ultrasonic anti fouling systems on their hulls? I ran across the Sonihull system at the PYI site and it peaked my curiosity. Seems a little gimmicky? If it actually works it would save on divers fees but I still like having my bottom looked at regularly for anode heath and snags ect.

If this worked, we’d all have it by now....

yeah like the ultrasonic pest control devices. They work for a few weeks until the varmints get used the new reality then they just adapt to the environment. I imagine the same phenomena would exist with the Marine organisms.

I recall working a joint research project with the USCG R&D office where sonar was being tested for various purposes. The USCG had to conduct testing in my area, upriver at about MM225 on the Mississippi River due to potential impact on marine life in EPA/NOAA restricted coastal areas.
Do these devices need to be approved for use by any environmental protection group?
I have no idea myself other than the experience listed above.

Navy sonar devices put out massive amounts of power over big distances. These are geared toward feet. Probably have less power than many commercially available fish finders.
