How far do you drive to your boat?

Let me get this right. You retired, in god forsaken corn fields a billion miles from your boat? WHY? plus you gotta watch the Colts which we glad gone from Baltimore.
Grandkids.... and I am married to a Grandma.... those two things make you drive for as long as it takes to boat :) ....And it comes with huge rewards... we get to daycare both of our grandkids at our home during the week...very cool stuff

38 minutes for us, doesn't account for the 15 minute Starbucks stop or 20 min WaWa stop. We've considered going a little further to about 55 minutes but it's hard to beat being so close.

About 25 minutes for us. Maybe 15-20 miles

about 8 miles from my yacht club which translates to about 15 minutes gotta love Long Island no matter where I drive I’m never too far from the water

That’s probably the best thing about Long Island. That, and good bagels and egg sandwiches. Got this one the other day.

I’m really amazed at how far some people travel to their boat. I don’t think I’d do it if I have to drive that far.

We’re about 8 miles and 15 minutes from
the slip. I can be home in 12 most times. I like having the boat close to check on it.

Currently the boat is 15 minutes from home. This coming season we are moving the boat 1 hr 15 mins away. Very excited to be moving to the Mystic River in CT. Our dockmates think we are crazy but It puts us 3 hours closer to all the destinations we love. Block Island, Newport, Shelter Island, Greenport, WatchHill,Newport, Cuttyhunk, the Vineyard and the list goes on and on. We can literally go to a new destination every weekend this summer. Not to mention Mystic River is a destination in itself. Covid has proven that we can successfully work from anywhere so no more Manhattan commuting for this guy. We own our home slip so we are back and forth if we should rent it for the season. I don’t look forward having to vacate as soon as the season opens if it’s rented. Would like to keep the boat close to home until the kids are out of school for summer. It will cross that bridge when we get there.

PJ is our stomping ground. We started talking about a mooring last season which led us to deciding to look at moving to Mystic.

20 min to the boathouse. 5 min if it’s the mooring buoy in front of my actual house.

I knew there was good reason, Grandkids rule....and of course so does Grandma an all being an Admiral. My Grandson loves the boat as I’m sure yours do.

I have 2 different routes I can take. One with no tolls is 29 miles and about 45 minutes. It's a 4 lane road and a few miles on a 2 lane road. Rush hour could make it an hour and a half.

The other route is 35 miles involves a toll road and 2 interstates. This can be as quick as 35 minutes, but if timed wrong, it is slower than the free route.

When we kept the 280 on our mooring it was about 200 feet of walking and rowing, mostly rowing. After we moved to the marina it became about 20 minutes drive with summer traffic, and 10 without.

I am about 45 min away. Not a bad drive except on Friday afternoons so I try to take Friday's off in the peak of the summer and go down on Thursday night. I can do a lot of my work from my phone if I plan the first 4 days of the week out properly.

296 miles / 4hours each way from driveway to parking lot!
Spent 109 days on the boat last season :) and burned 2800 gallons of fuel @ average cost of $5.20 a gallon.
Yes I am or should be committed.

Saw some off-topic chatter in another thread about the drive to your boats and thought it would be an interesting discussion.

I drive an hour and a half one way to get to my boat. It's all 4 lane highway, so not a bad drive at all. During our short 5 month season, I'll leave after work on Friday and drive up to the boat and not return until Sunday evening. I do this every weekend. I mix in a few vacation days during the summer and leave Thursday evening.

20-25 minutes which is wonderful. For many years when I was on the treadmill it would be 1 1/2-2 hours.
