Deleted “I am so offended” thread?

I disagree with you in deleting that thread... but you started it so your call. However the person or persons that put it in subjective delete status are now unknown.... so you just postponed another deleted thread

To clear up my comment....It happened that I got notice my sponsorship expired at the same time the ZAPPING occurred. It actually caused me to question the amount of time and my participation here at CSR all together. The sponsorship is not an issue, I do not think it amplifies my voice, I've no doubt Jim can survive without it.

For the thread in question I think GFC should have spoke out to those of us he felt were ruining it(maybe he did privately via PM, I dunno). If the response wasn't acceptable then go to a moderator. It was his thread, he had vested interest, he should have that right, I don't question that.

But the other guys that 'dropped a dime' on it.....why? When it turns into something you don't want to participate in...then don't....and stop peaking. Ya, you keep peaking until you upset yourself, now you don't like the thread and you don't want anyone else to like it either.;)

I saw that too. This I do not understand nor do I feel was necessary. In a volatile time these discussions are what keep everyone engaged. In a volatile time muting a voice among peers only leads to frustration and more unrest. In a volatile time emotions run high and clear heads are in short supply.

The politics didn’t ruin this thread. The personal attacks did. Thicker skin would help along with some patience.

Hawk, you made a post about the left being lunatics. That is the kind of thing I will breeze across and delete either the post or the thread. If you said the right are lunatics it would get the same result. It is not contributing to the positive discussion of Sea Ray Boats. I don't read into it any further than that. I think people that are around here long enough understand that and realize not to discuss politics because it just might get deleted.

Somebody else mentioned that forums are becoming the new public square. No they are not. Public square forums are becoming the new public square. There are a million of them. Try Facebook. CSR is for discussing boats. If you have some great political views you want to elaborate on, then invite people to the appropriate place and discuss it there. CSR is for boats.

I a moving this thread to the Holding Tank. Again, if you are around here long enough you'll realize that is the shot over the bow to turn it down a notch. If it doesn't cool off in the Holding Tank then I'll delete it. Talk all you want about politics in the holding tank. But once insults come out then I delete them.

I have fact checked this statement. According to CSR statistics there are 99,928 Discussions here. A bit of a stretch to claim there is just a smattering of boat info. You've been Debunked.....Fake News.

That is flat out not true. Stop lying about it. The % of boating posts each day vastly outweighs the pct. of political posts.
 
It is a volatile time in the US and there's not much else to do while the boat is laid up for the Winter..... Soon Spring will be rolling around and we will be starting new boat projects (those in the upper midwest anyway). We'll look back on these days and laugh...(not so much)

This never ceases to amaze me that people just can't help themselves and ignore or just move along. No one is forcing you to read anything. I swear every facebook group I belong to has those 5 people who's only contribution is to post that something offends them...but they keep on reading and posting. SMH

There be no limit to the fun we can afford once that 600 bucks arrives, Pelosi knows how to take care of her 'workers' doesn't she. :cool:

It's because we now live in a society where everyone needs to be a victim and needs to be protected. It used to be you walked away, changed the channel, etc. Today everyone has to be protected, so we need safe spaces and trigger warnings. We have become a pathetic society.

Well, when we start the war on fossil fuels and become dependent on other countries for oil, again, that $600 can be used to fill up my 50 gallon tank 2 times. :(
