460 DA Owners Thread

I took what Joint Custody did one step further...I bought a larger plug in cooler from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B083QYHHTB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and removed the stbd step to make it fit. Perfect fit and a little taller than the cushions on the other seats so I am not going to put a cushion on this cooler. I'll post a pic next time I'm at the boat.

This should be a great upgrade by avoiding the ice bags and associated draining and cleaning of the cooler every weekend. I can even adjust the temp to use as a freezer if needed! My Yeti has a matching seat cushion so I am moving it to the other side of the cockpit table and will use it as a seat and backup cooler for really big parties!

I also swapped out the ugly plastic foot switch covers for the windlass with these chrome ones I found from MMI marine (MAXP100733) $74.25 each.View attachment 94139

Did your boat come with the cover for the windlass? I wonder if I can purchase that cover somewhere?

As a backup and to help navigating when I need another 10" screen, I bought a double ram suction mount and use this dragon touch GPS tablet. For $100, can't beat it!

I'm looking for some suggestions from anyone familiar with hydraulics. My hydraulic swim platform has a bleed down issue. It will fall down an inch or 2 in a few hours. After a day or so, it stops falling after it has bled down 4 or 5 inches. Platform is still above water, but not where it should be. It typically doesn't fall evenly, with the side loaded heaviest falling more. I'm not losing hydraulic fluid and both of my cylinders were replaced last year. This problem has been getting worse for the last 3 years. Any suggestions on what it could be or who to call?

All the plates are off as well as knobs and rosettes. The rosettes were a PIA!!!! The only ones that were easy were located in each head. I found the fastest/easiest way to do this was to remove the inside locks...a little extra time but I didn't have to worry about damaging the maple exterior.

Now to find the trim edge for the sliding doors at the galley counter. :)

Just like you I started to change mine out this weekend. Yes the rosettes are hard to get out. Most of mine had masking tape around them to fit tight and we found the same thing you did taking the latch off worked best.

I was going to ask the same that you did for the handles for the door if anyone knows where to buy brushed sliver.
I am looking for the door trim as well for the coffee maker doors.

I haven't tackled all the gold trim. Thought I would let you take the plunge and then let us all know

Received and installed the new handles today. They have a slightly smaller "pull" handle, but look great and function just fine!
Old versus new then new...

What's the model and who made/installed it? Most are GHS or Nautical Structures. Aside from a leak or bad seals there's not much else to cause a drop. Any issue I've had has been seals in the cylinder (rebuilt 2 yrs ago) or leaking lines. Recommend calling the service folks for the platform. I've found them somewhat helpful but it depends who you get on the line. Check the hydraulic fluid to ensure it's clear and not milky. A leak can sometimes bring water in without a noticeable leak of fluid out.

My lift was built by TNT. I'm not sure how much help they will be since the pump and both cylinders have been replaced.

I am having a diver pull my props.
I dont have any good pictures of my props out of the water.
I am looking for side view and front view of the prop on the shaft and front view of the nuts ... etc.
I know this is a straight forward job however I would like to make sure I know what should be coming off and then back on.

Any pictures would be much appreciated.

Also any tips or tricks you might have when you have pulled your in the water.

For those with the hydraulic platform, what size dinghy do you have and how much room do you have to walk between the dinghy and the boat on the platform?

I used to carry a sea doo explorer (13' x 6' 9"), but it is difficult to get around and therefore usually have the jet ski on the lift.

How many of you have the little washer/dryer in your 460? Do you actually use yours? By looking at mine, I don’t think anyone has ever used it ever. I don’t plan to really use it —- looks too small and can’t imagine it can wash or dry much of anything.

Thoughts?

Well, our experience is that we only use it to dry wet towels at times. We have never used it to wash anything. The problem we found with using it as a dryer is that it is only a 110v heater so it takes forever to do a couple of towels. We can hang them out on a bow rail and they dry faster sometimes. :)

That being said, we just looked at a 500 Sundancer Friday and the owners swear by the washer/wrinkler!!! She said she used it every weekend as it saved her from having to go find a laundromat or take dirty items home only to bring them back to the boat the next week. Another friend of mine had a 450 Cruisers and he removed it altogether to gain more closet space.

So, it's a mixed bag...depends on what you need. I almost removed it this year to add either another fridge or more closet space. The admiral couldn't decide what she wanted more, so we didn't do anything...LOL

Tell me it ain't so. Are you changing ships now that you have improved everything possible on your 460?

Completely agree about the dryer being slow since it is 110 volt. We've left it in as a selling point for the next owner, haha.

Thank you. I have a smaller dinghy on there now. It’s about 10 foot and want to get a RIB but we’re contemplating due to how much fun it is to walk on the platform with anything back there.
We've had a Walker Bay Genesis 340 console with a 30hp Nissan since '08. Decent performer and the weight's not bad plus I can still get by to the starboard aft for fueling. We take it on some trips but mostly leave it behind for the big trips or when there are guests aboard. Admittedly it is much easier to move around when the platform is clear.
