500/520 DB official thread

The downside to their system is that you choose the "side" for launch and retrieval and you are locked in. At least with other systems you have more flexibility.
On the plus side there are many advantages. Retrieval is quick and accurate. I sometimes spend several minutes trying to get the dinghy lined up on the GHS lift then lower it and do it again. The Sea Weed system is simple, robust but don't exceed the limits and they will work through that for you. My system was made prior to the quick disconnects and it's something I would have wanted. Their polishing of the stainless is second to none since their main business was in equipment for the pharmaceutical industry I believe. The marine end is a diversion for them since they are boaters.
It's run by a good family but unfortunately I don't own stock either.

James, I am already limited to a side because I have a crane. My concern would be can my crane lift the dinghy further aft to this (or an extended platform if I added one) and still be usable? My immediate thought is no, I don't think I could get the dinghy onto a further aft product, thus rendering it useless. And what does that do to the eventual resale value of my boat...Mike

Wonder why SR switched to the davit in ‘05? Sounds like a handicap compared to the GHS which doesn’t limit you to launching from one side.

The crane may be able to reach another six inches aft but that would be about it. This is a pic when I was trying to see if a Whaler I was looking at would fit, it was too big; regardless the davit could extend a bit further aft by laying it down but not much... Second pic is with my RIB shown just about fully extended

I use a spreader bar with SS cables which I think helps maximize the height and reduces the cable angle allowing a further reach.

Mike,
BTW, your boat is beautiful and I admired it last June ('19) when we ventured over to Sturgeon Bay and docked a few slips down from you. I remember we exchanged greetings at the time but I never realized that we were both CSR members. (Truth be told it motivated me into starting a search for a 52DB because we've had thirteen great years out of the 460 and I have run out of projects.)
The Sea Weed system does put your tender more aft because its keel is just aft of the platform so if you are space limited, it may be an issue. Over the years I've had four different dinghy systems and all have their pros and cons but I wouldn't worry about value to the boat with a system like Sea Weed. With the quick disconnects the apparatus simply disappears and I would look at that as a selling point. Good luck.

The boat came with extra engine keys, but only one for the slider. I can't seem to find who make it to order a second. It doesn't look like the standard Mobella keys. Anyone have advice?

A locksmith locally near me was able to match it up to get some copies made. Here’s a pic of the key he made me.
It looks a little different but works just fine.

Anyone know where to buy these? Tried the local stores and a few googles searches for “clevis pin pivot”

These hold our two bench seats in the upper and lower cockpit.

Try searching for "quick release pin with drop cam". Also recommend you look at "quick release pins with ball-lok" as those are much easier to work with if you need to pull the pin on a regular basis.

I had the two at the sink refinished for $165.00, There are new water proofing materials on them as they do easily get some water when rinsing dishes in the sink. Gave him another door to use for matching process as he asked for to match back to.

I’m assuming your talking about the doors behind the sink? Do you have pics of the finished product? We did a DIY to them I’d like something nicer

I have a cabinet maker building me two new doors and the center piece. Our re-finisher didn't think he could strip the OEM door and refinish it acceptably.

John - Can you share pictures and tell us how they refinished? The wood re-finishers I spoke to said it couldn't be done...

11/16/20 I haven’t put them back on as haven’t been to the boat till this coming weekend. Not sure what he did so I’ll see if I can find out but they turned out fine IMHO.
