Official 380 Thread

Great stuff Chris! I did the exact same thing and getting the cockpit reupholstered and dropped it all off yesterday. I did find it easier just to remove the 4 screws underneath the captain chair and leave the post though. I even found a wasps nest where the hard to get to nuts in the side cavity for the forward back rest lol. What did they quote you to redo all of the vinyl? I figured Id stick with the stock white as I am not totally in love with the two tone everyone is doing now days.
Have not received a quote yet, going to drop off this week, figuring $2500+\- $500.... I thought of just removing the 4 nuts and the seat, but at 5’10”, I needed ever inch to get to it. I did find a wasp nest inn there also, them bastards can get anywhere, lol

I really wanted to stay with the factory material, the texture grew on me.... but since that is unavailable (from what iam told) I am undecided what I will go back with.... what was your quote?

you should be able to get your temp data in the set up screen on the Axiom. You can select what you want displayed and how you want it (i.e. number, gauge, graph). I know thats how it works in mine, I have diesels but I am using the mecury gateway to get it to the NEMA 2000 network. Once you are in the engine data screen get into the menus and you will find it. As long as the NEMA data is there you can see it on the Axiom.

Great Tip, I will have to mess with it. On my screenshot the engine temp is there but not being populated. I did some more research on it and it seems that the PGN's are not being translated for the older Mercs 8.1s . I am going to pull the logs and put in a feature request to get it added in a future update. For my engine, the only thing being translated out of the box is Battery, Oil pressure and RPM.

Yeah I am 5' 11" and just laid down and lifted the seat to the highest and from side to side to get to the screws.

I had the large cushion behind the co captain seat done a year ago to see how it would hold up to the use (two teenagers and company every weekend) before I committed to the entire job. What I learned it is all about the thread used. My guy is using a 130 ounce. He charged 180 for that cushion and $1700 for the single color and disassembly/assembly by me. So yeah under 2k. He was turning down a job from another guy while I was bringing him the seats so feel like his price was right for how much work he has lol.

So quality and density of thread is key?

Yes, especially for the harsh cleaners used now day. He also stiches the vinyl with a foam backing to make it feel softer. He gave me a whole overview on his process including showing samples. The new cushion was noticeably softer vs the stock.

Thank you for the info. I want to have my facts together when I search for a vinyl man.

Curious to what it cost roughly to redo interior, was hoping to go another year but might pull the trigger and update it. I'm thinking of the following to change it up but with black piping and stitching.

Thanks!

winter projects :
Waiting on the arrival of my new salon table from global shipwrights

Sending them a pattern of the cabin steps, replacing with teak

Isotherm cruise 85 where the ice maker went Gotta figure out how to get the DC back to the panel. May just go straight down to the battery. Thoughts? Yep

Just replaced cabin carpet

Plas deck for the swim platform. Already in cockpit area.
Anyone have a couple bucks I can borrow?

Please save the info for the steps, I want to do that!

for the DC feed, I ran #10 to panel (where the relays are) just had to buy a breaker and wire. Probably 15’ of actual cable, but I would buy more to be safe

Thanks!

How did you get it there.? I’m sending globaldhipwrights.com the pattern so they will have it. I cut out the pattern, just need to go back and check fit. Capt Rich is a very nice guy. He offered a lot of advice.

Iirc, there is a chase behind the left(rear most cabinet) door, unscrew the shelves, then flowed the other wires and jumped into the wireway, very easy... I think the water and plumbing goes through there for the sink

I ran the wires to power the 12V DC to the fridge from the panel in the center forward area of the engine room. Make sure you use a source that is on the house side of the panel. I used a fuse close to the panel

I installed a lighted switch by the fridge so I could see that the DC was on as there are slits in the cover that you can see through.

If I ever wanted to conserve battery power I could turn off the fridge and let my beer get warm...sniff.

Can anyone tell me what this is, and who manufacturer made it? I want to replace it, but don’t know enough about it, or what I should upgrade it to. This is on my 2001 380DA. Is it an GPS Antenna made by Raymarine? Raymarine and Garmin are the only brand electronics I have, and I know it’s not the Garmin GPS receiver. I have posted this question before in another forum, but haven’t received any answers.

That's the fridge I used. Biggest one that I could find to fit space. Like Chris-380, I ran the wire down and across engine compartment firewall and up and around back to the panel in cabin. I upgraded the breaker to accommodate both refrigerators, like Sea Ray did when factory fridge was installed in cockpit. I am toying with adding the separate breaker so I can turn off either refrigerator if I choose.

That’s an old Raymarine (or Raytheon) GPS Sensor. Probably a RayStar 112. The cover is missing so I’d presume it’s not working. Ditch it and put something else there...
