460 DA Owners Thread

I am thinking about having a cushion made for the starboard side steps to add another seat for when we are at the table. Has anyone done this yet? Thanks John

Do this. I actually just swap out the yeti for a Domatic electric cooler. No more ice and love it.
You get extra space for drinks or ice.

Same here, even put a cushion on top that matches our other cushions. The molded in step is held in with a few screws and some caulk, it only took 15 minutes to remove and can easily be added back later. Removing the step let's the cooler sit back like the other seats.

Two part question here.

Because of the uniqueness of the lake I Boat on. There are not trailers or cranes to pull our boat at my end of the lake.
To take it down lake and have it pulled cost around 3k with fuel and cost to pull the boat out.
I do have a chance to pull the boat on my end of the lake however the trailer that will be There I only have about an hour and a half to use it.

Before I commit to pulling at the other end of the lake I want to pull it on my end and swap out the port prop to see if that is the vibration I’m getting.
I have pulled plenty of props in my day however never pulled a prop on this boat.
For those of you that have pulled the props on our 460 what tools would you have with you to do so. As I said I only have a 90 min window to do and will be doing it on the boat ramp.

2nd question where would you buy the prop?

Hi everyone. There is rubber molding that inserts around the windshield and mine is missing some of it. Does anyone here know the right size for it and how much I'll need for the whole windshield? Thank you!

Can you hire a diver to pull it? It can be done in the water.

Yes I can. That is first choice. I want to visually inspect the Cutlass bearing and the Searay dealer from Grand Junction will have a trailer in Bull Frog pulling another boat out I just want to take advantage of them having a trailer there. If that doesn’t work out the divers gonna pull it.

Thoughts?

One more question.
The prop i have on the boat is a " Hy Torg 23 R 26 H-Cup" That is from a picture I took when out two years ago.
From the pic I cant tell if that was Port or Starboard prop.
Are both of them the same? Can someone tell me what shaft size would be on our 460? Where is the best place to buy a good refurbished prop?
Thanks for the help

It's a two inch shaft on the 460. I have a set in the classifieds. I'm not sure where you could get just one. Maybe Great Lakes Skipper or similar. As far a tools I think you will need a prop puller tool. Perhaps you could borrow or rent from a local prop shop?

Going by memory but both props from the factory are 23 x 26 H cup, Hi Torq. LH and RH are same specs. In 2003 the props were bumped to 23 x 27 for the 480CE motors. Many of us have reduced the pitch and played with the cupping to increase the WOT however.

Has anyone added speakers to the swim platform. I was thinking about putting them in the aft storage area. Any pics would be appreciated

According to the 2001 parts book, the standard props where 23X27. No 23X26 is listed for the Cummins engine in 2001.

Not a 460 but similar. JL 8.8's . JL 10" Enclosed Sub inside. I saved the cutouts just in case a future owner wants to close it back up.
