For those that trailer their boat do you protect the windshield when on the road; if yes what do you use. I have 1/4" safety glass on the jetboat and it got shattered on the the road. It was 4 lane pavement, dry and the road looked clean.

Might have just been bad luck. I've trailered my boat thousands of miles over 20 years and never had an issue.
I usually trailer with the cover on, but not always.

Agreed - when I trailered I always used a very heavy cover. It didn't seem like there was as much road debris back then, I can't keep a windshield more than 3 years now

They usually don't sweep the winter sand (borderline gravel) off our highways until mid June. It is tough on gelcoat as well. Most use full covers on their jet boats and a lot will have bow shields on their trailers as well. Have also seen padded covers that snap over the glass to protect from larger stones.

As high up in the air your windshield is unless you would have something like cutout plywood to protect it if something hits it way up there it going to break.
