Official 1998 Sea Ray Sundancer 290 Thread

Shark, my carpets were the same way. I took them out. Brushed all loose stuff off, taped edge and used flex seal. You can roll or painbrush it. Worked awesome. 1 gal did all my carpets. $100 at home depot. Can use acetone to clean stuck black stuff up
Thanks Jeff!

If you are going to throw old ones away. Please let me know. Ill take them. Im still not ready to do the floors yet

Jeff, I can’t see what else I would do with them, so sure you can have them. I’ll let you know when my sea deck is installed. Small token of appreciation for the suggestions and advice you provide.

Awesome. Thanks always. And please give pictures of floors when done. Im still up in air with doing them. Might be next year project. I now have to buy a new fridge cause mine finally died and cant find anybody local to fix. Just gonna drop the $800 and go with a new norcold. Pm me and ill give my address

I just had the plastic windows replaced on our front canvas. After the first weekend with them, we cleaned the boat, and my son went to wipe off some water spots with his finger, and ended up leaving some fine scratches..maybe there was still a little salt or something on it. I saw something called Novus 2 Fine Scratch Remover. Does anyone have any advice on what to use, or how to remove these scratches?

My pleasure. They did two dry fits with the paper templates, and now I’m just waiting for them to cut the material. Like everything boating, they’re super busy and backed up. In the meantime, I’ll get some acetone, and fire up the pressure washer, to get that black stuff off the deck. I’ll definitely send some pics when it’s done, and I’ll get your address.

Bummer about the fridge, but I guess if it’s original, that’s a pretty long life. You’re able to get a direct replacement for the $800?

Sharky,
This is what i use on my canvis windows. Works awesome and easy to use

Made a cool drop curtain for the 290. I think it’s the only one of its kind and it's the most complicated one I've made compared to my old boats. Still have to add the snaps.

I do a lot of early spring salmon fishing so closing off the cabin is a must for my 50 year old ass to stay warm and comfy while salmon trolling.:D

NICE!!

The guy who bought our boat is willing to sell the fisher winter canvas if anyone is interested PM me and I’ll send you his phone number. Not sure what he’d want for it, but they’re in Buffalo, NY.

You wouldn’t want to pay shipping it’s really heavy.

Took the 10 min ride to the fuel dock today, and noticed the starboard oil pressure gauge was only reading about 20 psi (port was at 40, as usual). We were cruising at around 3400-3600 rpm, both engines seemed to be running great, and synchronized. Throttled down into the no wake zone, and the gauge was at 0. No smoke, no noises, both engines synchronized. Fueled up, checked the oil (both clean and in the OK zone), and bilge (no signs of oil or anything abnormal). Started the engines back up and the gauge never moved off 0.

I’m thinking it’s a gauge problem, on a 20 year old boat, with original gauges that have probably never been touched, but wondering if anyone has any other ideas or suggestions?

I'd hook a mechanical gauge up first and make sure you have oil pressure. I'm sure its the sender or gauge (or loose wire) but I wouldn't want to be messing around with the possibility of it actually being a dead pump

Check the wiring on the gauge and on the sender, things might have just loosened up

Thanks Ryan. I just got the boat in June, and it’s my first, so I haven’t done much mechanically yet. Connecting a mechanical gauge, or even finding the sending unit, might be over my head.

I can certainly remove the panel at the helm, and check the connections at the gauge. It would be great if that was it, lol. I have a few other gauge issues, so I can check those too. Someone told me to be very careful with that panel, because they become very brittle.

I was thinking there’d be no way for the engine to run so well, for 15 mins each way, with no oil pressure, right? I was also wondering if it would even start back up at the fuel dock with 0 psi. If I was sure it’s ok, I would obviously prefer to explore it during the off season if possible!

Are they efi (fuel injection)? If so, it probably would have not started up without oil pressure detected by the ECM. I agree, you’d have some serious knock and valve train noise without any oil pressure.

Yes, EFI. As always, appreciate your input. Glad you’re still in touch. How’s the 410?
