After nearly 30 years of Sea Ray ownership, I am on the outside looking in. Destiny has a new owner as of 10 AM this morning. Unfortunately I am halfway across the world at the moment and didn’t even get to say goodbye properly.

They say the two happiest days....well, I’m not feeling it. Unfortunately the last two years have been so busy at work, and my sons wouldn’t come to the boat when we could use it, that it just didn’t make sense anymore. Maybe in a couple years I’ll find a prestine 420 or 44 to move into.

In the meantime, we have our Boston Whaler and plane to play with, so it isn’t all bad. I hope the new owner takes care of Destiny and does not poop in the head.

feeling sad in Incheon,

Scott

Looks like that head will finally get some #2!

That is unless there was a no #2 contingency in the sales agreement.

Sorry to see that shining gem go. At least you still have the whaler right?

I’m just happy you are staying aloft and flying high!

I forgot to add that to the purchase agreement. The buyers dad has a 48 DA and is here on the site, maybe he can pass along to his son that the no pooping onboard rule still applies.

Yup, still have the Whaler, and I am keeping my slip. It won’t quite fill it like the 340 did, but it’ll keep me on the water.

I am sad that your relationship with Destiny has ended, but I am filled with optimism for you in the future. When the time is right there will be a new boat for you in that future.

We wish you the best for you and your family as you move forward.

Scott, I was exactly where you are about 4-5 years ago. One of our kids was in post-graduate school and the other in undergrad. They didn’t have time to come to the lake. The driver was that I thought that my employer was going to have a major RIF in my group and I didn’t want the weight of the payment and associated costs. There was. RIF, but it was almost 2 years later. We sold our 370DA in 3 weeks. I could have cried. Ok, maybe I did a little. She was a great boat and had no major issues in the 9 years we owned her.

After after a few years we were ready to come back and bought a nice 310DA. It gets us on the water and we can sleep on it. I can even afford inside storage at B&E as it’s much smaller than the 370. That’s a win.

Scott, I can relate to the sad feelings you're going through. Having just taken Beachcomber to Seattle to put her up for sale I went through many of the same feelings.

I too have a Whaler but right now it's down in AZ. We're going down there in a month or two to get it and check on the condo. I can't wait to get it back up here so we can have fun with her.

Your future holds more boats so stick around and be part of this group.

Will do, not planning on going anywhere...

thanks everyone for your kind words and wisdom.

Or just maybe, it will be used just as the manufacturer intended.

It was comical, at my old marina, to watch the people doing their morning poop walk. LOL

I actually feel sorry for anyone who feels that the happiest two days are when they bought and sold their boat.

Happiest days for me have ALWAYS been on the boat, on a nice day with family.

Sold my trailer sailboat this past Spring (was gone 2 days after I posted the add). I know my favorite day on that boat was a late spring day, perfect weather (and wind) teaching my daughter to sail.

It was an exciting day when I bought the boat and a relief (so I could start my next boating journey) when I sold her. Neither of these days, however, when anywhere near my favorite days.

Looking forward to my next boat (probably a Sundancer) to create more 'favorite' days with my wife.

Good luck with your next boat and I hope you have many pleasurable days on her.

Jim

Scott,

I know this borders on heresy and/or sacrilege; there are other boats besides Sea Rays!
I have to admit having my eye on a few models built by Tiara....

Unfortunately anything Sea Ray built past 2008 has no appeal to me. I despise the Euro-styling they went to.

Yes, I agree Scott. They tried to follow the crowd instead of leading the way. Destiny was a great boat.

I enjoyed the day I spent with you prior to purchasing my 340DA. Hopefully, you will find another boat that gives you the same experiences and memories that you got while onboard Destiny.
