Official 2003.5-2008 340 Sundancer Thread

Congratulations and welcome!
Switches: On the wall by the cabin door is a master switch that controls all the cabin lights. If that is off, all the lights are off. Around the cabin and in the head are other zone switches. So when we are camping, we leave the master switch in the on position and using the other switches as needed to conserve batter power.
Charger/Converter: Battery charger/converter is located behind the port cabinet in the mid cabin space. So you have to pull screws to remove the shelves to remove the plexiglass. Then you can get at the charger. There is a ton of space back there! My charger did not buzz. But it does make some fan noise (perhaps a dirty fan is what you hear?). I did proactively replace mine with a ProMariner Pronautic 1240P, knowing there is a fixed life for these things.

View attachment 89715 View attachment 89715 Just took delivery of our "new to us" 2006 340 Sundancer. We fell in love with the pewter hull and the layout of the boat. Now that we have had it out a couple times we love it even more. We have been cleaning and personalizing the boat and hopefully will be camping out this weekend.
Maybe this has been covered and although I have been a member for years I don't post very much.
It seems that my head compartment lights only work when the cabin lights are on. Does this sound correct? If I wake up to use the head I have to turn on the cabin lights to turn on the head lights? Maybe something you guys could help me with.
Also battery charger is making a very high pitched buzz. Does this mean it is bad or going bad? How to access charger for closer inspection/replacement. According to the gauges it is charging.
I am sure I will have more questions as I get to know our new boat better.
Congrats! You are correct. What we did was put a motion sensor battery operated light that sticks with a magnet to the wall. Works perfect.

The main cabin switch at the companion way entrance will need to be on as well as the breaker in the panel - think of that as a master off when leaving the boat. All of the interior light areas can then be turned on/off individually at night so that you can just turn the light in the head on and off independently.

I never found a switch (other than the master) that could control the two lights at the bulkhead (where many mount a tv) ..so I removed the bulbs.

The PO of our boat put a switch in beside the TV to control those lights. We do as stated above as well. Use the entry switch as a master and individual zone swoitches as needed. Also added a battery operated blue LED to the ledge under the sink that we leave on at night. Another lighting addition was to change out the switch (a 3 position, on-off-on) up by the AC control so that it operates the lights at the foot of the bed and the reading lights at the head of the bed in the up position and only the lights at the head of the bed in the down position. This allows you to turn on and off the reading lights only independently when you are in bed. One of the admirals favorite upgrades.

Parts are in and should be installing this weekend. Have them a little over a week but had family commitments the first weekend and over the past week I have been busy on both sides of my businesses but doing a lot of repairs due to the storm. Would like to have both my boats running this weekend.

Glad to hear, sorry u missed half the summer

Just picked up an 04 340 SunDancer with the 496 V drive setup. Had a 65 mile ride home today dodging thunderstorms and had a blast.

Genny hasn't been used much lately and I think the carb is gummed up because it dies after about 30 seconds of surging.

Boat has brand new upholstery, new Garman radar with an older large screen GPS/plotter and a seriously incredible Fusion/Wetsounds stereo system that went for about 10k.

Has the blue LED lights in the arch, cockpit and interior as well.

All in all the boat is really beautiful and looking forward to giving it a good bath in the AM. Genny will be looked at on Wednesday and the detail will be either Monday or Tuesday. Picked up a bit of rope on the last few miles so I'll need a 10 minute short haul asap.

Congratulations and welcome, a lot of good info on here for ya. Def spend some time reading through all the posts on this thread, will save u a lot of time down the road

Ah, its always something. Condensation drain wasn't working correctly so had to fix that today. Went for an evening cruise and got the "low voltage" alarm with the starboard showing 10.8-11.2 volts around 3400 rpm. At the marina the voltage went to a steady 11.3 at idle speed. I'll be tracing all the connections during the week to hopefully get it ready for the weekend. Not too bad for a new to me boat.....low voltage alarm and generator that cuts off after 30 seconds. I am thinking/hoping both are easy fixes.

Looking for a replacement for the cockpit faucet on my 2006 340 sundancer. Any tip would be appreciated. Went to 6 plumbing places by me and no one had anything.

Eddie - I put in a faucet similar to this one. The neck folds down into the sink and I built a cover that fits over the stainless rail and sink and we use it as a serving area. Works really nice. Attached is link to faucet (mine is not this exact one, but very close). Also attached is a pic of the counter I built.
