1998 SR 290 Sundancer - Little Ducky II

I stopped by to see LDII this morning. The hull shined up pretty well.:)

Love the fresh bottom paint. This boat hasn't seen paint in years.

Stopped by Erwin yesterday to pick up a trim sending unit and saw your boat sitting out front. I was like “Hey I recognize that name” LoL

WOW.WOW.WOW........

The boat runs great.

No more clunking outdrive....... both shift quickly and the boat hops up on plane pretty quickly.

And with all new bellows ....... all the exhaust is now going where it's supposed to be going and the boat runs so much quieter.

It's nice to have a working depth finder again so Little Ducky II can go exploring and won't run aground. Not as attractive as the old one..... but it works.

Great to see her in the water! What do you think caused the outdrive corrosion in FW?

Age and no anodes.

There wasn't even bolts where they should have been.

In at least all the documentation going back 7 years before I purchased only one lower unit of one drive was replaced do to damage..... I can only think they were the originals.

I'll keep track of the anodes to see how fast they dissolve going forward.

Found another piece of the puzzle. I could not locate a replacement faucet aerator until I found this one on amazon. Even contacting Grohe didn't help. If you are looking for a replacement the part number is below.

Well my boating day came to an end early.

Just blew up one of the motors.

Time to see what the "mechanical breakdown coverage" on the insurance policy actually covers.

Edit: It did start back up after it cooled off but it didn't sound good. :(

Well the mechanic did a little trouble shooting yesterday.

Water in 2 cylinders along with poor compression.

Hoping it's just a head gasket. Tear down starts this week.

That is really unfortunate. Sorry to hear.
Did your mechanic identify the reason for the water?

Add-on...I see you said hoping a head gasket, but is that from him or you?

it was from the mechanic..... hoping head gasket..... but it could be a cracked block.

Will be tearing it down this week.

man, sorry to hear that. We went through the same on our 290. Wasn’t water ingestion but a blown head gasket at about 3600rpm which burned a hole bad enough on the block side it warranted a full rebuild.

you said it started after it cooled off. Did it overheat?
