Hope everyone had a nice weekend. As for myself I was safe, but this social distance thing really sucks. Everyone at my dock are very close. Lots of Brothers ,fathers of same families and life long friends we call family. I have been social distancing on my boat while there, but it sucks not being able to mingle. Wife and I stay on our own boat while everyone else does there thing. As you can see there is no pandemic going on on my dock... Hope you all had a safe 4th.

yea... thats not happening in South Florida... No raft ups allowed. Boy I miss those days....

If it were calm off shore rafting up might be outside the Man’s jurisdiction. I guess 20 mi would be needed.

All this is political.

Weather here made the weekend a bust. It’s just as well, we tend to stay in on the fourth the holiday is usually crazy town and folks on our dock used to have a cookout. Case in point on the crazy town, some idiot impaled a houseboat with an 15’ aluminum boat on Saturday and needed to be helicoptered to a hospital.

What do you mean by this, out of curiosity?

Is that what you meant? This by the way is on the edge of one of the largest mooring fields in the town. Houseboat is something of a misnomer as it’s more of a floating screened in porch/patio. When we had our sea ray it was stored next to the houseboat one winter. There were four young people in the alu boat, all were thrown out and the driver was actually hit with his own boat. Everybody was recovered and only the driver suffered injuries.

Fourth of July is a nasty time here to be on the water. Every single time our 280 was hit on her mooring was July 4 holiday. In 10 years it was hit three times.

The Fourth Is usually the first weekend when it finally dawns on everybody it’s boating season. Throw in that the town ramp only opened this weekend after undergoing a reconstruction that started in March.

We stayed on our boat at the slip. Took the dinghy out - but quickly realized people would buzz us out of the channel to avoid the wake of bigger boats so went back to the dock. A couple on rented waverunners were airlifted out on Sunday after hitting something.

We went up to a lake in SW washington called Lake Merwin and had an awesome day on the water. I have two little boys so they aren't skiing or wakeboaridng yet but they love a good towable. But we didn’t see a single raft up on the lake either day.

Lake Merwin is one of three big lakes in the shadow of Mt St Helens, along with Yale Lake, and the Swift Reservoir. They are all 6-7 square miles and all great for boating and fishing. These three lakes are about an hour north of Portland and two hours and change south of Seattle so they are very popular. We launched at noon on friday and got one of the last trailer parking spots at our particular launch point. I cant wait to explore the other two lakes.

I was in the SE corner of the NW mooring field in Port Jeff this weekend. I was shocked to see so many large raft ups. 1st, they only allow a max of 3 boats per mooring raft up (per the Town mooring application). 2nd, when I spoke to the Harbormaster office in the spring, they said they would only allow a max of 2 boats and would break up larger groups for social distancing reasons.

I know that area leading into Conscience Bay is anchoring only, but I'm still surprised. The Harbormaster was definitely on patrol this weekend (along with Suffolk November and Suffolk Delta).

I took a quick trip on the dinghy over near where those pictures are but didn't go that far over. I let the kids have the dinghy most of the time. But the way, the island in the narrows into Conscience Bay are very good for harvesting some delicious mussels - and the occasional oyster.

We didn’t leave the dock until 5:00. Found a nice spot to drop the hook in a cove surrounded on 3 sides by residential areas. Had a nice dinner. It got a little crowded, but not terrible at all.
Fireworks started on land 270 degrees around us at dusk and were fantastic. We stayed until about 11:30 then headed back to my dock.
My canal was off the hook with fireworks.
Looked like a war zone when we got back there.
All in all a good night!

My wife's dog is very sensitive to fireworks, so we took the boat to a State Park where fireworks are prohibited. We went to Blake Island which looks over to Seattle. We were rewarded with nice views, great weather and power on the docks. On the 4th, we settled the dog down below with some tunes, and he was fine the whole night (not one bark). We watched fireworks from a distance in the cockpit and shared drinks and a birthday cake for the nation.
We went for walks on the island during the day and most of the 'hikers' we met were wearing masks, so it was not that big of a deal.
A great weekend!
Ironically, 10 minutes after we got home, the dog heard a firework and ran to my office to hide under the desk behind the power cords. Guess I should have taken Monday off as well, lol!

This stranger came in the bar and sat down beside me.... that’s road rash from falling off his Golf cart...His arm was pretty bad too...but had a good attitude

I had good timing this year...we did 9 days on the boat, 4 days back at work, then the 3 day July 4th weekend.

Took some friends across the lake to see a hazy Chicago on the 4th....with a full playpen, although the "mayor" closed it due to COVID!

It was extremely hot here this weekend. Friday we went down and took the cover off and sat around for awhile then Saturday our marina was having a party so we signed up to bring some food then my son who works out of town and is rarely home decided to have a party at his house so we took our food to the marina and sat on the boat for a couple hours then left before the party started to go to my sons. Sunday we were planning to go out on our boat. My mother has a pontoon a few marinas away and she said they were heading out and invited us on their boat. They are pretty inexperienced and don't go out much because of it so they picked us up at our marina and we went with them. The owner of their marina has a 37' Regal and had invited them to raft up so we did that for awhile and we all sat on the Regal then we left and I taught them how to anchor themselves as they had never done it. Sat around on their boat anchored with them a couple more hours then headed in.

It doesn't get too crazy on the Ohio where we are. Only 'close call' I have seen in our 5 years was a boat flying up behind us while we were anchored close to shore. They must not have seen us and turned about 50' behind us and went past us about 20' away on plane. We were in our 1986 250DA and it was in the middle of the day about 50-75' from shore so not sure how they didn't see us. They were in about a 30'er

I was the safest I've ever been, the old girl is on land till tomorrow.

I heard about this story on the other partner site. I’m just glad it wasn’t worse.

interesting tiller set up on that unfortunate work boat. Enclosed motor.

The boat is a Winninghoff. They are made locally. It’s not the typical riveted aluminum sheet metal construction, but all welded aluminum. The company primarily builds larger commercial work boats. These things are built like tanks. As the picture shows the boat faired better than the water slide.
