Subject boat is 1982 360 SRV. The pic shows some sort of instrument somehow related to the battery charger and resides even with the ankle of the helmsman. It is probably OEM and was used in connection with the original ferroresonant charger which has since been replaced with a ProNautic smart charger. Its lights glow green and it has an on-off switch. Guess I would like to know if it has any present useful purpose and should I keep it switched on or off or does it matter.

PS Disregard the fire suppression status panel

Take a look at the LEDs on the front of your Pronautic. Then switch this panel to the off position. If the leds are still lit on the Pronautic, you should be able to completely remove this panel.

If the leds extinguish, then this switch is likely wired to a charger relay somewhere which feeds the charger. I highly doubt the charger input is connected directly to this switch. If it is, I would replace it with a breaker using the appropriately sized wires. If it goes to a relay, consider replacing that relay with a breaker. Either way, your charger should be protected by a breaker.
