So how could I make this mount look better?

I had a custom mount made for my radar and Flir. As you can see it looks like it hangs off the back. There is a reason for this though. During transport I can fold it down 180*. If you take the canvas down it only goes as far as the front to back of the arch. I’m thinking of a black wedge type thing to put in the gap of the canvas and bottom of the mount. Kinda like to make it look like it is part of the support. Maybe white? Any other ideas???

I’d be concerned something like a wedge would create wear on the canvas. Maybe you could have something sown onto the canvas that created a filler pad under the mount.

Actually, I wouldn’t do anything more to it. That gap doesn’t look like it represents anything flawed in the design. Use your energy elsewhere and enjoy your beautiful boat!

I agree with Andy and think it looks fine as is. If you wanted to do something with canvas maybe KevinC can come up with an idea for you.

I'd say... from where you stand at the wheel, you don't see it.

Or... mount the whole thing on a seat slider. That's just kinda thinking outloud there!

Thanks guys, A couple friends at the dock said the same, looks fine. I guess. I had the mount extended 4 inches and that's why it hangs over. I guess I can leave it. I like the filler canvas idea though. Maybe like a small wedge cushion with a couple snaps made out of the same canvas. Who knows... Thanks guys. Now to decide what Flir to get. Lower resolution with pan and tilt or high resolution with NO pan and tilt..That's for another thread though.
