If I get the JL speakers with LED It will cost about $500. $80 per speaker, $100 in wiring, and $200 for the controller. Is the cost worth the cool factor?

Only you can answer that. Apparently there are enough people that say "yes" that there's a commercial product for it. The question is, is it worth it to you?

I have some color changing uplights in the beams of my kitchen. I use them mostly for holiday lighting, but it's more of a novelty than regular use. It didn't cost much. But colored lights is not a look I like on a boat so I would say no - on my boat. I'd find another way to spend $500 and the install time.

I struggled with the same question and decided that it was not worth the cost or the hassle to install. After installing regular JL speakers I never thought about it again. I will say the JL speakers made a huge difference in sound quality on the boat

I get that it is a personal choice, but wanted to measure the cool factor vs. cost. So far most do not think it is $500 of cool...

I did it on mine and love it. RGB wiring was easy.

I put LED covers on my existing speakers... I wired them into my cockpit lights... Cost me about $35 total

I care about the sound quality then “cool factor”. You can always add cool to proper engineering. Sometimes, cool with a good reputation/review is CRAP.

not saying these are, just listen first, then cool.

The 30 year old me yes.....the 60 year old me
hell no.
