OK, I've been around boating for a long time, but I have no idea what "wet load fresh water" and "wet launch fresh water" means. So you need someone to carry a bucket of Mississippi water to Alabama?

No. Haha. I need a 2001 Sea Ray 380 located on a fresh water lake In Madison, Mississippi loaded on a trailer, and unloaded in Decatur, Alabama. I was told that most transporting companies will not back down their trailers into saltwater.

to answer above....a lot of shippers wont dip their trailer - they want it unloaded by a forklift or travellift, but you already knew that......to the OP - boat size would likely help - is it the 290 listed in your sig?

No, I need to change that sig. the boat I’m needed transported in a Sea Ray 380. So what do y’all recommend?

thats a BIG boat to water load/unload - I wold ask at either marina where you are going to load/unload (or marinas in the locality) if it is common practice in that area, they should know who does it - Why is a travellift not an option? Two possibilities are Ted Zizzo 239-850-6909 (he may just do Fla - not sure) and Darrin Goodman 951-823-7629. Of course, theres always uship as well - just be specific with what you are looking to do

Thank you!! I’m still learning, so I do not know why a travel lift could not be used. I will make some more calls. Thank you.

Ok so here is the deal. Basically there are two types of trailers to move boats. The standard hydraulic boat trailer and a regular over the road, lowboy, trailer. Many yards use the hydraulic trailer to move boats around short distances (say a short move to winter storage). You can generally retrieve/launch in fresh water and also pick boats up off blocks and such. The lowboy is more of a standard heavy equipment trailer -- good for long over the road hauls. But the boat must be loaded onto and off of the trailer. Thus, you'll have an extra expense of loading and unloading.

You're looking at 300 miles and a 5 plus hour trip. I would ask for recommendations at your departing and arriving marina. Go with the guy that comes up at both. Good luck.

You can try Horsepower Marine in the Charlotte NC area - they have done a wet load and unload for me before on a 370DA

I can not thank everyone enough!!!! I’m in the process of applying all the advice now.

I think I have found a transportation company, he can wet load, and wet launch. He wants me to take the arch off, because he doesn’t have a lowboy trailer. He thinks 13.8” is too high. I would rather use a lowboy and take the props off. Suggestions?

AL and Miss are limited at 13.6. So you're two inches high. There are more lowboy trailers running around, so I think it should be easier to find someone to haul it. Good luck.

Good advise!!

I have been quoted $6,000 by one company who has transported to both locations. Another company quoted me around $3,000? Seems like a vast difference. One company will remove and reinstall radar, then other company will require me to have that done. Horsepower Marine does not have a working number. Still waiting on call backs from everyone else.
