For those that are Noflex fans....how much do you use on a weekly basis just for maintenance? Ive been using NoFlex for awhile, and have read all the instructions, but I'm curious if I just wanted to throw some in there, say, every Monday or whatever.....how much would I use? 2tbsp? a cup? The boat is in the water yearround here in FL behind my house. I mean, were not always "in service" and doing the 1tbsp per person/per day when we go out on a weekend, dont fill the tank or pump out, and then dont go out again for a week.

Thoughts?

following
i have used noflex this year only.

We get there on friday night, usually leave sunday about noon. i use the 1 tablespoon per person per day.... so typically, i put 4 tablespoons in on friday night, then have it pumped out through the week

I missed a pumpout after being on my boat for a couple days. That was one person about 36 hours. It wasn't horrible, but def an odor near the vent when i flushed. i have a new filter, installed about 6 weeks before.....

do I need to add more when i leave, my tank was maybe 1/8 full, it was upper 80's all week

i don't mind having a pumpout every week, but if i put a couple extra TB in will i get another week?

thanks for starting this thread

Following this too.

I just started using NFD this year and am not as bowled over as I had expected to be. The instructions do say that it might take a while to overcome the odor problem.

I now understand why you’ll never see anything in a picture of this product to give it scale.

I expected the container to be larger than a tall boy beer can.

I’m gonna give it a season until the jury’s back in.

1 tbsp/person/day when we are on the boat. After a pumpout, I probably throw in 4 tbsp to start it...68 gallon HT...
Right, but what about the days when you aren't using the boat.....and the tank is not full yet.....that's what Im trying to establish is just a weekly amount I can use between pumpouts since we aren't physically "using" the head every day in between pumpouts.

As far as my experience with NoFlex....I was a huge believer, and then I wasn't, and now I think I am again. Recently, I had stopped keeping up with NFD for some reason. I just got out of the habit of regular use. Our boat has STUNK lately when we flush. I mean, bad. Changed vent filter charcoal to no avail. Then I was just using copious amounts of blue juice. meh.

So I decided to give NFD another chance as I had 4 bottles still laying around. I filled my 40g tank with fresh water, and used 1cup of NFD as directed. I then recalled that I had just pumped out, and put some blue in there. So after about 2days, I was like, $hit, this isn't gonna work with that blue in there, it'll kill the bacteria. So, I pumped out, flushed, and re-filled the tank and did another cup of NFD. My secondary goal here was also to reduce the buildup on the side of my tank that I can see with a light. After a day, I added another cup of NFD to the tank. yeah....now I'm getting somewhere.

Went and pumped out, and did the startup NFD amount, and used the boat this weekend. So there's a few gallons of effluent in there now. Well today I decided to change my vent charcoal again, as I'm pretty sure I had the tank filled so full that it got into the vent filter.....it did....as the charcoal was soaked. While I was in there, I decided to pop the underpressure valve out to see how the tank smelled. Yes, I leaned close to the hole, and.......

BARELY any scent. I'm not gonna say NO smell.....but pretty damn close to zero scent.

Now, the insides of the tank did not end up spotless, and I'm currently debating if I'm gonna built a disposable pvc hose "wand" that I can stick in there and wash the sidewalls of the tank. We'll see.

So, I'm kinda back in the NFD fan camp. And I'd like to just start an "in-service-but-not-on-the-boat-daily" weekly routine.

Others may chime in, but I don't add anything special when we are not going to be on the boat. Initial dose after pumpout, and 1-2 tbsp/day during use...We winterized for the first time this past year and I pumped/rinsed 3 times, added a cup in each head and it was fine 7 months later...

I guess that makes sense......once the effluent in the tank is treated, it's treated. Then you need to add more NFD when you add more effluent.

After the startup dosing, I add 2 tbsp in the main, and 1 in the secondary head when we arrive on Friday, repeat when we leave the boat and we only pump out when tank is 1/2 full, maybe every 2-3 weekends during the season. We’re usually 2 adults, 1 or 2 kids. No odor.

I add a little bit to the shower drains when we use them as well.

I’m a believer. I buy 4-5 bottles at a time to get a discount, a bottle lasts 1-2 months in season. Last time I think I paid $16 a bottle.

My beer tab is still the largest budget line item:)

I'm quite liberal with on the weekends. Probably more than I should but I have no odor. I just open the lid and sprinkle a good amount. Probably 3 scoops. Best head treatment I've ever used.

Maybe its just me but I crossed 2 otherwise decent boats of my list because the head stunk. A man takes care of his poop deck then he takes care of the rest of the boat:)

So, for my use, usually 2 people, 2 nights....

Looking for advice and suggestions. I treat the weekend on Friday night, can't imagine it's better to do 2 scoops each night, but if I am wrong, please let me know

After pumpout, I should add 4 scoops for the initial treatment, then another 4 scoops (2 people for 2 days).

If I don't pump out, add 4 scoops the next weekend.... does that sound about right?

I really want this to work, thanks for all the advise and info

That should do it.

I think I got 5 bottles for $80 shipped on sale this spring. I think I googled Best Price Noflex Digestor...

I am using it this year for the first time... Does anyone know if using too much can damage the duck bill valves or any seals? It is a peroxide oxidizer so I would think that might be hard on some rubbers/plastics.
