Well, sort of long distance. My wife and I want to give the boat a good workout prior to making the round trip to New England next summer. I have planned a trip from Boynton Beach to Key West via Hawks Channel. The first night is planned at Pilot House Marina in Key Largo and we will spend a few nights (tentatively planned) at A & B Marina in Key West. Has anyone used one or both of these marinas and if so, what are the pro's and con's of each. Do you have any suggestions?

A&B changed hands last year. Have you looked at their slip fees? You might take look at that. Galeon, Conch, and City are now all quite a bit cheaper.

Also, look at Marina Del Mar for your Key Largo stop. I love that marina.

Hawk Channel can be a very scenic trip, but you might consider running outside the channel on your return to get a push from the stream.

When are you going?

And A&B does not have a pool..... Galleon and Conch Harbor both have pools..... Galleon has always been our first choice. Floating docks and more protected than Conch Harbor. Pool and bar are right on the waterfront.....

Look for an alternative to Pilot House Marina. Stayed there one night and was very disappointed.

#1 on marina del mar - and one of the nicest dockmasters in fla - just give a securite call coming and going at "the corner" fuel on your starboard side just after the corner if you need it.......if your just stopping for the. night, consider just dropping the hook in the lee of Rodriguez Key - safe and comfortable

Ididntdoit brings up a good point.

Don't treat the Securite call casually, there is a reason the nickname is "crash" corner. Dive boats flying in and out - they don't do calls, they just go. If you wind up trying to turn the corner at the same time as a dive boat... gets very tight.

Probably late July and then again in October.
We may due Sept or Oct. Headed to Bimini first but who knows how that will be with all this Covid stuff??? Are you going to the Bahamas at all? We are headed over the 17th of July, my buddy with his new 46 is joining us.

I mentioned a bad experience at Pilot House but had a great time at Ocean Reef Club. Also in Key West I would recommend either the Galleon or A&B. Both have the best location. A&B used to have the best prices for fuel as well. The upstairs restaurant at A&B is also excellent.

Gunner you still headed south? I think we are heading to the middle Keys the next weekend we can find a weather window since Bimini is out of business. My buddy and his 46 and me in the 48 are going to run from FTL down for an extended weekend.

Right now, not looking good for that trip as outside issues have reared their ugly head.. Thanks for asking.

That sucks... Hopefully this *hit passes, and we can get back to full on boating.
