I need help

So I just got a used 2010 sea ray 185 sport and it ran great or at least I thought it did. I got home and turned the boat on and when I put it in gear there is a banging noise coming from the prop area any advice?

Congratulations and welcome to CSR! It could be that the prop may have spun a hub, in which case you will have to replace the prop. thats a easy to check starting point.

Do you mean "initially" there is a banging noise, or continually? If initially, that is just the normal "clunk" of going into gear, which is good. Shift quickly for a solid clunk - not slowly as you will grind the gears. It's more noticeable out of the water.

You're using a garden hose while on the trailer, right?
