40 Sedan Mainship? how cool is this boat?

It is nice. The walkthrough from the flybridge to the bow is a really nice feature. All it needs is a hardtop over the cockpit

If you drive from upper helm and get in rough water you will be stuck there as the stairs down are open to the weather.

is it poor fit and finish? cheap materials?

Yeah, it has a cost-cutting look to it. Mainship was part of the Lurhs/Silverton family, and if you look for it, you can find evidence that Mainship is to Silverton what Bayliner is to SeaRay.

That's not always a bad thing though! A 40 Silverton will have nice wood trim and plush headliners. The 40 Mainship will have laminate trim and a full fiberglass liner in the salon. Unless the Silverton has been well maintained, the Mainship may actually age better.

I've known two Mainships and they actually aged well for what they are. I'll also note that it's what we call an express bridge: it has gas v-drives under the cockpit. Both owners I knew complained about performance/economy. One of them had floscans, so I took the complaints seriously.
