Hello,

2000 SR 340DA - New to me this season

Starboard engine suddenly started spitting oil mixed in the exhaust water. Pulled the plugs and they are old & coated with oil. Engine has 800 hours, been maintained by previous owner. Any suggestions. I'm thinking head gasket needs to be replaced.

Could be unburned fuel from the plugs you say don’t look good.

If the plugs are black it is excess fuel. Could be a few things including bad injector. If it is oil the fowling would be more white/grey and clog up the electrode. Compression and leak down test would help determine the cause.

We had an oil cooler fail. When the engine was turned off it sucked water into the engine. Oil and transmission coolers are about $100 each. I replace our every 5 years. I cut the old ones in two and look for damage. So far they have looked good.

Is it showing up low on your oil dip stick. I would change plugs and oil coolers first if engine is running good.

Actually, your colors are reversed. Black is oil, grey is fuel.
