Official 1998 Sea Ray Sundancer 290 Thread

My understanding is that that light is a navigation courtesy light and not requiered. I did change the bulb to blue and has been for 2 years. I do have the light ontop of the arch that is white. Let me know if i am correct. A bunch of boats in my marrina have done this same thing but dont want to get dinged by the coast guard for it

I don’t know if it varies by state, so this is for NY, but when I put the dinghy on the back I had to look up the regs and anything under 60’ needs a forward and rear facing mast light but can be a 360* light on top. I converted our arch light to 360 and disconnected the stern since it’s covered.

Thank you. Thats my next task. Mine work fine but dont wanna trust 1998 technology now. If i have my camper top up and side curtons on and cabin door open when i first start the boat they both have gone off before. Cant be too safe

Please do ... it was one of the 1st things I did when I bought my 290. If you look at my fix-it page in the signature I installed the same detectors. Really simple install just be sure not to leave the wires fall back into the wall.

Yeah we have a 2 year old and when he was really small I bought one of the detectors that shows ppm, amazing how fast CO accumulated in the cockpit even with the Whole camper back off

I can set my CO detectors off pretty quick at the dock when I run my generator with the window open or door open and the HVAC on. It's a good reminder that CO is odorless.

Does anybody know the windshield wiper i need for the 98 290 dancer. I went cheap and put a car one on with a zip tie and time to get the right one

I'm curious too. It would be nice to get one that is big enough for the window and actually works...lol

Anybody else get water in the area outside of the shower sump and into the compartment under the floor in the main cabin? Is that just air conditioning condensate? I've got no bow rail stanchion leaks that I can detect, and the hull is good, no cracks and smooth as can be. Thanks in advance!

The only time I had water outside the sump was when the sump box was funky and the pump wouldn't come on. After a good cleaning and frequent pan tabs to kill algae during he summer it's still nice and clean and working great. A few on here talked about the shower drain leaking and needing to be sealed again.

Is the drain pan under the AC draining?

Any cracks in the sump box?

Turn the shower on and then look at the sump box and area around it to see if you can see any water where it's not supposed to be.

Report back when you find the cause.

2 Questions to the 290 group.
1) Does anybody know the proper winshield wiper to use?
2) Since i have had it my motor hatch is heavy as shit. I have replaced the 2 shock pumps with what i thought i had in it. If i lift the motor hatch i have to use a metal pipe to hold it up. Does any of yours stay up on its own and if so what lbs shock are you using.
