I love my new boat and its beautiful swim step, but we have a lot of seals in our harbor that would love it too. I've seen everything from fences to plastic coyotes; in fact I watched one jump onto and eventually over a fence this weekend. I found a local company called SealStop which has a good product that straps to deck, but I would have to drill and mount hardware for the straps.
Currently I am just putting half a dozen buckets out and hoping I get lucky.
Any better ideas?
Thanks

If it weren’t illegal, the shotgun would be appropriate. When I was on the west coast years ago, tin foil seemed to do the trick. We tied a string across the swim platform and hung sheets of tin foil. Short of that I would say a canvas cover for your swim platform. Wouldn’t be cheap but at least it would keep it looking nice

Geez I have carp bumping against the boat and I get frustrated.... couldn’t imagine dealing with seals..

Sea lions are filthy bastards. West coasters have a ton of trouble with them. They are worse than canadian geese

I'd at least run a line through the handles on your buckets. Those seem ripe for being pushed/blown into the water...

Can't believe anything can be worse than canadien geese, all they do is eat and shit twice as much as they ate!
