Two much salt settling/corroding the I/O?

I'm looking at both the I/O and V-Drive 2005 to 2007 years of the 320. Why did you pick the I/O?
One reason people pick the i/o, better gas mileage/performance with I/O over v-drives. I get 28-29gph, at 3900 Rpm, doing 26-28 Mph depending on conditions. If you are in a wet slip, not much to worry about with the v-drives, harder to maintain the i/o, and you need sea core. I/o will have slightly higher annual repair bills/maintenance costs, but older V-drives will eventually need the shaft seals worked on.

When we moved up from a Maxum 2700 we looked at 320s and 340s. We were pretty set on getting a 320 as my brother in law has one. While shopping for over a season and a half, we were encouraged to look at the 340s as well. There were several in the area and priced very nicely. The 2006 / 320s back in 2015 were in the mid to low 90s. When we started looking at 340s, they were only $10,000 more. We ended up with a 2006 340 with 496mags Br IIIs for $95,000. Immaculate and well kept and maintained boat. Pluses that leaned us to the 340 BrIIIs. Wider beam, the 6 inch wider beam makes a huge difference, especially in the cabin with storage, counter space and larger fridge. I will admit the cockpit seating wasn't my preferred, but when running at 30mph in 3 foot chop, it is quite comfortable for our famiy of 3. We are in salt water but keep high n dry on lift so BrIIIs worked out good for us. The difference in bilge space with the BrIIIs is huge and much easier to do maintenance. We actually store chairs, umbrellas, floats and other misc items down there. With this setup I burn 30.8 gph running @ 30 mph in good conditions. Definitely do some sea trials on both boats. I took 8 adults to a comparison test and although the 320 did ok the 340 with the 8.1 / 496 mags jumped right up on plain and performed as it did when it was just the broker, the wife and I. keep looking, they are out there. Don't be afraid to travel a bit. Bringer her home on the maiden voyage is just awesome. Good luck.

Todd you have v-drives, correct?

yes, Nibral 3 blade, don’t recall the exact size, but it is in my parts manual for the 07 320 v-drive with 350s.

I actually got a little better than 34. 3 people
1/2 fuel

Wow, that’s great!

Put my boat in this morning, all gauges are working besides my port side tach... any ideas on why the port tach wouldn’t work, and where to look ???

thanks

The work is phenomenal and they look great. I want to do the same as well but I doubt I can afford it

I was thinking it’s possibly something in the engine compartment because the tach and sync was working last year and I had the exhaust done so the wire harness had to be unplugged but everything else is working so wasn’t sure if it is possibly back of the gauge or something in engine compartment.

I think this is probably a dumb question...but I have a new to me 2004 320. Is there a gauge to indicate the level in the holding tanks...ie...the sewage? I see the water tank level is in the electric panel.
In my prior boat (2006 290) it was right next to the head..I can't find it.

Its in with the electrical panel. Empty/half/and don’t flush or you will need a new vent filter!

Lesson learned. Wear your glasses when looking for things....otherwise you could possibly ask a stupid question... ;-) I snapped a pic earlier in the season and just found it in the pic..
Thanks...
