So finally got in the water. All systems are a go except I put a new battery on the gen set, winterized end of the season, no issues, now it wont do anything. Am I missing something?

Not turn over, click, nothing.
When I bought my 400DB I couldn't get the genny to do anything using the power panel. Turned out there is a switch on the genny that allows it to be controlled at the genny or at the power panel. It got changed to the genny position. You might want to check that out.

That’s a great point. It’s turned off by anyone servicing the gen. Probably turned off when swapping the battery and/or winterizing. If that’s not it, based on your description, you need to get out the DMM...

Actually it's for disabling the remote start found on the electrical panel. By disabling the remote start the generator may be started by the two start switches found on the generator.

Exactly CaptRonn - You described it better than I did....

Getting ready to drop my boat back in Friday morning. I had a pretty good vibration on the port side, and figured that it was a dinged prop. The prop is being re-conditioned and re-installed Friday morning. The yard says that the shafts are bent. Port is at 8 thousandths out of true, and the starboard 4 thousandths. The yard states that SeaRay's tolerance is 2 thousandths. I don't believe much this guy says, so I'm re-installing the prop to see how it goes. I mostly just want it out of his facility, and will use another shop if I still have an issue. In a quick online search, I found a place; Pacific Marine and Industrial with a published tolerance table for their new shafts. For a shaft 7' to 8' long, their tolerance new is .0125. This puts mine in tolerance at .008. Anybody dealt with, or know anything about this? .008 is not much of a "bend". Just want to know if I need to explore other avenues before I go to the cost of another haulout and having the shafts removed, and shipped off for straightening them back into tolerance.

Have you hit anything with your running gear? I ask because it's highly unlikely the shafts just "bent" on their own. And a small prop ding would not bend that shaft, unless that prop was hit very, very hard.

Personally I think the yard is blowing smoke up your skirt. I would also want to watch them do the run out. If not perfectly clean and set up correctly, it will give a false reading.

If it were my boat I would reinstall the props and go run it.

That's kind of where I'm at with it. No, nothing hit. At least in my ownership. I thought that the prop looked pretty nice, but the prop guy said it was tweaked. I'll have to take his word on that. Pic of the port prop just prior to removal.

Yep, props erode over use, yours doesn't look neglected.

BTW, when you get it back, ask for the prop shop report. It should state what was found on the initial inspection and what was done to bring it back into spec. If your yard doesn't have it (or will give it to you) then call the shop yourself. That will be telling.

Morning all
The cord on my RAY230 VHF is shot. There seems to be a consensus on the web that replacement cords are no longer available. Does anyone know if that’s true and if so, has anyone got a recommendation for a replacement VHF radio?
I got one re[;aced from RayMarine last year. did you contact them? It was $105 I think. Cord and new buttons.

You guessed it, Christmas tree pins. e-a-s-y does it. I remember breaking 1, and I was really taking it easy. Sometimes it just is what it is. Good luck.
I would replace them all. Cause why not. They are old and brittle and might as well refresh...

I hate the age and wear of chalkiness on my Nav Lights. (port and starboard) Anyone know an exact replacement? Want to replace them both and update to LED bulbs but didn't know if there was anything better and/or exact replacement.

The prop shop told me the opposite. Although maybe he meant just lightly used recreational boats. What do you mean by "erode"? I have read that over a lot of use the tips can wear down and decrease the diameter.

Anything that flows across that metal depending on speed can take a minute piece of metal. Particulates, sand, shell, etc, whatever is stirred up can erode the metal over time. That’s why some props have pits and deformations after extended use. Take a gram of weight out of one blade and that can set up vibration.

My technical background is on aircraft propeller balancing and helicopter MR and TR blade track and balancing. Many of the same concepts apply.
