Hi all - previous owner said he never used the windlass so I would guess it's been at least 5 years since it was last operated. Pretty sure everything is original.
My issue:
I turn on the main windlass switch, lights up, so all good there. Using toggle switch, solenoids at stern and bow click, same using foot switches, but no movement, motor doesn't move or even sound like it's activating (thought maybe I would hear it trying to move and something's jammed). Same thing up and down. I'm gonna try to tap the motor with a hammer to see if something's stuck. Thoughts on what to try if no joy there? Thanks!

Hi and Welcome to CSR.First what make unit do you have is it a GOOD WINDLASS ? Most likely its the motor witch you can get for around $ 250.00-$270.00 its a simple job remove the 4 mounting screws from top side of the Winlass then pull it out to get to the motor. Also don't forget to get the deck gasket for the Windlass for when you put it back hope this helps you out!

Thanks Express 390! It is a Lofrans windlass - couldn't tell you if it's a good one though! I see you're on the south shore of LI - so am I. Currently docked at Leeward Cove Marina (Dublin Deck). Are you close by?
