Going in next Saturday, But it's gonna be ....

I apologize in advance, but I can't stop. I am sick and tired of the Covid Nazis telling us "you don't believe in science" or "you're selfish" or "you'll kill some unsuspecting person." Blah blah blah. Every day you leave the house you take a risk. Auto accident, hit by a bus, boat sinks in the middle of nowhere, infectious disease, etc. If you don't want to be infected by the virus, then don't leave your house. If your elderly with an underlying condition, don't leave your house. Provide the services to those people. Let everyone else get back to living.

And there is ZERO science that shows it's ok for 4 family members to stay at home but not ok for those same 4 family members to go on their boat (as opposed to 2 people per boat the dumbass Gov of IL requires).

View attachment 84111 Just what I wanted in a post. CNN and Fox News.
Take it someplace other than here.
We all have opinions about the #%*_$& virus However why bring it here. If you want to go out on the boat do it. If you want to stay home do it.

I for one have done my part on being conscious of the whole situation as has everyone else in the US. We all just have levels and threshold and we all live our life’s in different ways.

Since March I have been at the boat a total of 45 days on and off and will be going tomorrow for five days.
I am glad to see people getting out and clearing there heads. We all need a break from the news and people telling us what to do and how to do it.
our families also need a break for our homes. Our boats bring us many many ways of enjoyment. we should use them!

Without doubt things are different and will be for a long time.... just Adjust and adapt your lifestyle.

just because we are using our boats doesn’t mean we’re irresponsible!

Our lake and Marina has many restrictions however we have all just adapted to it Marina has many restrictions however we have all just adapted to it. it is what it is.

we have to get back to what makes us happy and gives us Drive and desire for life!
It is the rewards that we give ourselves that drive this country to be the best!

Sorry for the rant.
There our forms on this site to take your arguments your politics and your opinions.

How this post got off track is a great example of the level of frustration with everyone.

We all need a break!!! So take one!!!

This is what I did today!

Nice tandem!

I have 863 jumps myself... Great way to clear your head!

Jezzzzz. All I said is it’s gonna be a little different next year and it turned into this. Lol. I’ll adapt, there will be next year to catch up on what I missed this year. No big deal.

Back in the day I was a licensed Instructor and Jumpmaster by the United States Parachute Association.

Technically - the main parachute <Did not deploy properly> ....his <Tandem Master> cut it away and the <Reserve> chute worked....

Reserves are packed differently... for one purpose... to open.

Main parachutes are similar BUT have certain things to allow to opening to be slowed down and more comfortable. Sometimes this can create an problem.

Now in skydiving when you do something for the first time... you buy a case of beer. So he should have bought 3 cases, 1 for the jump, one for the cutaway, and one for the reserve ride...

And since he got 2 free falls... did he pay for his second jump? :D

I dont think we will be allowed to boat this year. Delaware isn't allowing out of state residents to come un state without self quarantining for 14 days. You can come but must stay in your home, boat or rv for 14 days with supplies you bring in. You cant move about for 14 days and each trip back to your main home resets the 14 day clock. Doesnt seem like much fun watching others boating and so forth while staying tied to the dock. May have to relocate to Maryland, they dropped their out of state restriction. I dont want to go to the beach, boardwalk or crowded stores but I dont want to be hassled by the police every week either. A friend got served papers at his home by the cops because he has PA plates. He was quarantining too. A neighbor called the cops when he saw the plates. Not fun to me.

Hard lockdown in NYC = science. Hard lockdown in fly-over country = politics. Hopefully, people can figure out the difference regardless of the color of their bumper-sticker.

Have ANY of you heard ANY one from the Medical and/or Science community say a Lockdown is not needed? This is one of the few tools we have right now. Hopefully more weapons against this scourge will be discovered. We have 2 people close to us who have died from this already, no need for more. I work in Immunology Research, and have been involved in setting up a Covid-19 laboratory in NY, and assisting other customers who study antibodies. Any one who is against this lockdown does not under stand science and doesn't give a hoot about fellow human beings. The economy is going to suffer, but the alternative is worse.
The alternative is many deaths from suicide, deaths due to increased drug use, deaths due to increased crime, sick kids due to malnutrition, increased mental health issues and a lower standard of living due to lower wages, job losses, etc.

To say the economy is going to suffer is a gross understatement.

That's all facts. Add all of those statistics up and compare to the covid deaths and calculate the comparison. I don't know how the comparison would turn out, and I guess nobody knows.

Is the alternative truly worse? I don't know that either, and that's why I won't make that prediction.

Tell me if I'm wrong looking at it this way. Don't get me wrong, I am doing what is supposed to be done.My wife and I are also pretty much the only ones on out dock wearing masks right now. Pretty sad though nobody is getting it. Anyway, Before this all happened, think about how you use to live. Kiss and huge people you love, family ,friends, ect. Shake hands with everyone, Touch surfaces and not think about it, Sit next to someone shoulder to shoulder, Some touching bathroom door handles(not me) and so on. For me...If I make sure I don't do any of that and sanitize my hands often, Wash often and keep a distance from people when possible, don't go to parties with large groups and don't wear a mask when doing it. What is the real percentage that I would contract Covid-19. I know there saying it's also in airborn form, but what are the real chanced of being near someone that has it, and then getting it, while practicing all these rules and getting it? Just my thought.

it follows the current narrative. If you don’t agree with the current point of view then they use hyperbole to make you look like an idiot or terrorist or horrible person. Nobody is allowed to have an opposing point of view anymore. We are the “deplorables” Lord help us

I like to look at the odds of surviving. These numbers include the nursing home deaths so odds of surviving are even higher. These odds will also improve the more we test.

My odds of surviving Covid in Michigan is 99.953%. I'll take my chances with this super dangerous virus..

While this is not completely scientific and I am not trying to stir any arguments, I am just going to report some facts. I personally know of a few families where at least one member was COVID positive and in very close contact with other family members and in those situations the virus was not spread to everyone.

While this disease is highly contagious (I feel because it is new) and can spread easily, based on the above observations it can certainly mitigated by the proper hygiene being recommended. In one case specifically a family member tested was not positive several weeks later nor shown the antibodies to suggest a previous asymptotic infection.

Reports also show very low life spans for the virus outside the human body when exposed to warmer weather and sunlight (the UV portion - which is abundant even on cloudy days). So, based on science marinas, boats, beaches, etc would seem to be one of the best places to be now.

Outside is good. The virus will hang in stagnant air, ie; inside. The wind dissipates it very quickly.

At the marina this last weekend, masks were only really used up by the bath house not on the dock. However, while on the dock there was no real gathering and when people would stop and chat a 6' distance was maintained. A couple of times going up or down the gangway, people would wait at the top or bottom until you passed before going the opposite direction - hence maintaining distance.

The 20 mph wind probably didn't help the virus. :)
