40 sedan bridge forum

I could get used to it. Just very different from my black shade. Does it keep heat out, can you see inside at night when the lights are on?

Are those turn buttons for canvas or something else across your deck?
It's perforated white vinyl that sticks to the outside of the glass. 50% sun/light block. So it will let less heat through. I'll let you know how much. Yes you can see in at night. But not during the day. You can see out fine from inside. Looks like you are looking through tinted glass. The sticky side is black. All the film to do all the front windows was only $63. So it's another one of my budget bargain experiments. I can still snap the black shade over it.

Those turn buttons are for a custom full bow cushion the previous owner installed. I hate it and don't use it. It resulted in 96 screw holes in the bow. I want to take them all out and plug all the holes. But it's a big job and I don't have the energy for it. So all the buttons and snaps remain.

My spotlight doesn’t work any longer, are those spotlights on each side of you original remote?
They are speakers. Previous owner was into drilling holes and mounting stuff everywhere. He even mounted outrigger pivot mounts to the side of the bridge.

I’ve read a few of the posts about a new Galley fridge. I guess my options are the Norcold or Vitrifrigo if mine can’t be fixed.
I have the Norcold DE 461 and the AC power side is not working (compressor won’t run). I just turned it to DC and it seems to be working.
I am likely going to call a repair man unless anyone has had a similar issue and knows a few things to check. (Yes it is getting AC power, the light is on and the fan runs)
Is it okay to run the fridge for a few days on DC electric while docked?
I’m not sure how much that will work my battery chargers. Anyone hear of this issue? I didn’t find it in the search field.

Probably just a bad a/c-d/c converter on the back of the unit. Easy to test, easy to replace, cheap part in the boating world.

Morning all
The cord on my RAY230 VHF is shot. There seems to be a consensus on the web that replacement cords are no longer available. Does anyone know if that’s true and if so, has anyone got a recommendation for a replacement VHF radio?

I’m a fan of STD Horizon. Cost effective, have all the necessary features, easy to use. And they work. Get one with GPS (or N2K) however, so you save extra wiring.

Cummings 6CTA-8.3M engines. Oil sender question. I’m tired of running with a wonky oil pressure at the helm. I’ve done all the diagnostics and it’s the sender. Recently had the boat in for aftercooler servicing and they tried to replace the oil sender. They ordered one (I think from Cummins) and found it was the wrong one? Sea Ray used something else to work with their gauges? I don’t know, which is why I’m here.

What IS the correct oil sender I should get for these engines for this boat? (The bad one is on the engine right now so I can’t look at it)

Sender has to match the gauge. Typically SR used Teleflex instruments and Faria.

Look at the gauge and see if it has a manufacture and/or part number. Go from there.

Great. That makes sense and agrees with what they told me. I can’t see my gauges without crawling under the helm but I believe they are Faria. Nothing unique about my gauges, they are standard Sea Ray:

Do I need the gauge p/n to know the sender? Would MarineMax know?

This is the one that matches your gauge. When in doubt first check Flounder Pounder for original Sea Ray OEM parts.

Spring projects in full swing including a new systems monitor. "03" Cummins. I know some guys have changed there's already, can you tell me how the 4 wires on the new one are wired in when the old monitor has like 6 wires?
Red is + and black is - and blue is dash lights. That leaves an orange ??
Thanks guys. Happy boating.

Looks like teleflex, not faria.

There is a small puck like audible alarm zip tied to the wires under there. I am pretty sure the orange connects to it but I'll double check when I go on the boat later today.

Yup thats the one. I made the mistake of ordering the wrong one last season from SB which had the 2 contact terminals.

Yep. When I researched this last season I kept finding those, which didn’t match what I was seeing on the engine. Then I got distracted ...

Fridge dilemma. I have all of the finesse of King Kong. Before I break something getting to the back of the fridge.
Do I need to remove this tan trim?
The frame is behind it so I don’t see how it comes out without the trim coming off.
How does the tan trim come down?
Does the tan pry down and that gold rim stay or is the gold part of the tan piece? I suspect it has the Christmas tree push pins but I don’t want to snap something and be wrong.
Thanks in advance so I don’t Kung Foo chop off this animal.
