Apple and Google have embarked on their biggest collaboration ever over the past month, building a platform that will turn nearly every smartphone on the planet into a tool for tracking COVID-19.

Now, the two companies are providing a first look at how the new technology will work on iPhones and Androids.

I know. But Big Bro is already here. But what happens when I drop my phone into the marina?

It was the best 18 hours of peace and quiet I've had in years. Until I had to buy a new one the next day. My old phone still sits under my swim platform. Too bad Verizon was open Sunday...I'd have liked another day.

I think it was Marc Andreeson about 30 years ago who said 'there is no privacy -- get over it'. Probably true then as now.

It's recommended by some to keep a keyfob wrapped in aluminum foil or in a metal box. Maybe one of those will work for my phone.

It all started with Sputnik.......:(

While the far away seeming NSA is monitoring us that is very different to allowing local tyrants the information.

MM
MM...not true. Jim Clapper said so in a Congressional testimony. Well, at least they weren't "wittingly" collecting data!

I get pissed off at pollen alerts.... I couldn’t imagine people alerts :)

I’ve been considering going back to a flip phone for a few years now, this might push me over that edge.

No power, no tracker.
The 70's movies are ringing true. Don't eat me, man.

I can't wait for the "underground" off the grid communications to start up. Smoke signals? Nah, too weather dependent, and aren't for SHIZZ at night.

If you do not have a cell phone like my wife wonder if the government will buy her one.

Soon as that’s rolled I’m going back to my old Motorola flip phone.
My Motorola was a bag phone. Damn that’s been along time ago.

I actually had a bag phone stolen from my car at "Baseball City" if you've lived in Florida long enough. Back when the monthly bill was 7-800 dollars per. Now you couldn't find one on Craiglist.

I have one in the basement...

I am thinking about the pre-paid trac phones you get at Walmart and paying with cash.

I will keep my smart phone at home so big brother thinks I just sit at home all day.
