Sdx 270 ob vs sdx 290 ob

I’m looking at either the 270 or 290 STX outboard. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on which bout to get.

My activity use case: General boating in and around Chesapeake Bay (usually in rivers), taking young teenage kids water skiing and tubing,, and maybe cross the Chesapeake bay 1-2x per year. My pier space is 35’ long and 11’ wide.

Further thoughts on boar versus my slip space size, handling, speed, ride, better or worse features, and or opinions which is the better boat would all be appreciated.

ps: need the outboard due to storage at a marina durimg summer

The 290 is slightly larger, and comes with 2 engines. That second outboard pushes the price difference to 80k between them. If you don’t ha e a desire for twin engines, 270 is a solid choice.
