Very cool to see the USN Blue Angels and USAF Thunderbird's do a flyover of NY and NJ today. They flew over each of the major metropolitan airports (Newark, Teeterboro, JFK, LaGuardia and Islip) and a number of hospitals as well. They flew directly over my house in formation heading from the south shore of Long Island up to Stony Brook hospital. It was over before I even thought to take a picture. One thing I thought interesting was there appeared to be an armed F/A-18 trailing the two formations. Did anyone else see it?

That's really cool to hear. We got to watch the Blue Angles at the Cleveland Air Show 2 years ago, docked at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame which is right down from the show airport. Was there from Thurs-Mon. Let me tell you, the practice on Thursday and Friday was better than the show over the weekend. Lock screen pic from my phone:

I was down at my dock in Lindenhurst and saw them fly by from West to East. They were a bit of a distance away, but it was still pretty cool.
Hoping they still have the Jones Beach Air show this year. We go every year, anchor in Zack’s Bay, and really look forward to it.

Nope, Memorial Day weekend airshow at Jones Beach is already cancelled. It was supposed to be the Blue Angels this year.

F’en Cuomo!
Hopefully he won’t cancel the 4th of July fireworks too.

Thunderbirds and Blue Angels are amazing. Best we've seen were the Blue Angels in Pensacola. Outstanding. It was a nice gesture today what they did. I'm sure our medical and other essential employees appreciated it.
I saw a very brief clip of it on the news earlier, it mostly showed the workers outside watching the flyover so that the relentless media could use it to communicate that there was no social distancing going on. So sad.

I don’t know my daughter here in Indy I think could care less about the fly overs...... these front line workers really go thru hell.... she has been working 3 12’s....today was her 4th.... she has been working the clean ICU....as opposed to the dirty ICU which is Wuhan virus patients... she got a call last night that one of her patients tested positive for the virus.... they don’t have enough PPE still for these nurses....so she wasn’t protected....they gave her the day off today so she could get tested.... it’s still a shitshow out there

That needs to be addressed!

Hope your daughter is OK. Two of my nieces are nurses here and ones on a COVID floor. Tough duty for sure!

Stamford CT was at the tail end of their flight path.
Lined up perfectly with my street We were standing out in the road (cul-de-sac) with many other neighbors..was very patriotic to see.

The extra bird was interesting...better safe than sorry.

The extra plane was for photography.

We went down to the boat yard to watch. It was very cool. I live military jets of all types so was happy to see it. My wife was really jazzed about it. My teenage son- who is starting his phase of indifference - was really wowed and takes about it nonstop.

A bunch years ago I got to go to an airshow for a big Pratt and Whitney's 65th anniversary. Luckily I was able to get flightline access because at the time my godmother was married to one of the best F-14 pilots, and he was part of the show. The highlight of the event was all the Grumman 'cat planes flying in formation: Wildcat, Bearcat, Hellcat, Tigercat, and Tomcat. I later learned that will the slowest plane was struggling to keep up and had his engine redlined, the Tomcat was flying as slowly as possible with all flaps deployed. And even then the pilot had to override the computer's stall warnings. It was an incredible show.

Why does everyone hate the guy yet he is still Governor ?

It's very simple....50% of the voters in the state are registered Democrats while only 22% are registered Republicans. The remaining 28% are either unaffiliated or affiliated with a minor party. It used to be the Democratic strongholds were concentrated in the urban areas of NYC, Albany, Syracuse and Buffalo (public assistance havens). It's not that way any longer, in fact only five western counties in the state still have a Republican plurality and they are eclipsed in population by most every other region of the state. New York is a huge state (it can take 12 hours with no traffic to get from Montauk to Buffalo, of course it can take 4-5 hours to get from the Hamptons to NYC on a summer evening) traversing the most diverse socioeconomic population in the world, extreme urban to extreme rural, unbelievable wealth to deep poverty and not all where you think it would be, in either case. I think the Democrat's consolidation of power derives not only from the urban vs. suburban vs. rural divide but from three basic issues; immigration (legal and illegal), a welfare state (see also immigration) and fiscally irresponsible support of public unions. The Democrats could put a monkey on the ballot and they'd get elected, so it's not so much about Cuomo as it is about the party line. Oh, and I'd guess, on CSR there is a concentration of rightward leaning members from NY so you get a fairly distorted view from us NY'ers. That's my $.02....ok maybe you got $.04 there.
